very long day

Well, I haven't updated in awhile and a lot when on today so I figured I'd share.

Today was- crazy busy. I got up early this morning to look over more of the verbal portion of the GRE book because I was extremely nervous about it. Then we interned, which went well, but I'm still not feeling 100%, so that coupled with the nervousness from the GRE left me feeling really crappy. So when we got there to take the test I got a little nervous, but not too bad. Stef was actually pretty relaxed, which surprised me. At the same time I'm glad, because she tends to worry too much about things she'll do great on (love ya!) So, to make a long story short I got a 600 on the math portion, which in my opinion is pretty darn good. The highest score is an 800, so to me a 600 isn't bad. That was the section I had first. Then with the verbal I got extremely nervous. I felt rushed. One thing everyone always stressed was to manage your time well so that you have enough time to finish the questions. I tried to be conscious of it, but it didn't work. When I looked at my time and it said I only had 12 minutes left I still had 10 questions left. And unfortunately at that point I had only had 1 of the sections with the reading comprehension. So out of those 10 questions left there were still 2 more stories (that were longer and harder than the first one) and 6 questions to answer from the stories. So, naturally I started freaking out. I guess I should have just taken my time and maybe I would have gotten more answers correct, but oh well. I only got a 340 on the verbal, which is simply not acceptable. I'm really even embarassed to be writing that, but I figure I have already told all of you or I will at some point. So that gave me an overall score of 940, which is enough to get into grad school, but they say they won't accept people unless they have at least a 400 on the verbal. That makes me 3 questions short of getting into grad school, so it looks like I'll be taking it again. I'm going to try to talk to someone tomorrow, but I have all the Relay for Life stuff to do.

Relay for Life is another thing. It starts tomorrow at 5 p.m. and goes until noon on Saturday. Earlier in the week our team leader just decided to drop out. She didn't give us any information, she just said that she made other plans and that we weren't doing it anymore. This made us all angry because we are doing it for a purpose, not just for something fun to do on a Friday night, ya know? So to make another long story short we are still doing it and Kelli, Jason and I have kind of become the new team captains. We went to a meeting tonight and they gave us checklists of everythign we needed to bring and all the thigns that need to be done. Well, we were not aware that we had to do any of it. Jason is the only person who has done it before, and he did it in highschool which was over 5 years ago and so he didn't really remember. Plus, he's done so many other thigns that are similar to it he didn't remember the exact details. We needed a fundraiser, the theme was apparently TV shows and so each group chose one and they decorate their areas and dress up. We were all sitting there overwhelmed and really upset that Meredith (our crappy quitter of an ex-leader) did not tell us anything. She's in Kelli's cohort and wouldn't even talk to her this week. The least she could have done was give her the information she had up until that point.

So anyway, tonight Megan, Jason, Kelli and I went to Walmart and got a bunch of stuff that we needed. Tomorrow we are going to get groceries to make everyone food for when we are there because they don't supply anything for you. Another catch is that you can't sell food for your fundraiser, cuz ya know.. that'd be too easy! I'll write more about the things we're going to do after the event and I'll let you know how they go. It should be really fun, I'm just a little nervous because I think there is only one person other than the 4 of us that is planning to stay all night long. And one person from your group must be walking at all times throughout the whole thing and so I'm afraid we're going to get burnt out. Several other people will be coming throughout the night to give us breaks, but we will be the only ones there the while time. So (being the good captain that I am) if anyone wants to come to the O Dome tomorrow night from 6-12 or Saturday from 6 to noon you are welcome to come and help us out. You don't have to pay or donate anything. There will be fundraisers going on, but you are not required to participate. You would just be coming to walk for a little while, even it if was only for a half hour or so, for a really good cause and to help us out as well! Plus, there's going to be music, different performances, they'll be playing the basketball game, so it's really going to be a lot of fun.

Okay, I'm spent.
