Sororities suck

Do you ever realize how ironic it is when someone gives you advice and you don't follow it because you want them to be wrong...but then in the end you find out they were very much correct the whole time? That was me and my mom on sororities. No one in my family had ever joined one, but when I got to college and saw how big greek life was, I decided to defy her and join a new sorority that was being started. This is my fourth fall in the sorority and though I've never 100% felt at home or like I belonged, things did get better as time passed. At the same time, I do definitely feel that I never truly was, nor will I ever truly be, a sorority girl. Recruitment 2005 has really changed my view of my own sorority and our women. Everyone's true colors have really shown through and there are a few people that I used to love and trust that I now despise. It's hard to believe how quickly people can change into beasts and how quickly their hearts of gold can melt away. I am so disappointed at so many of my sisters' behavior this week. Making rude comments, stealing people's things and overall just being bitches makes it hard for me to stand out there and sing from my heart about sisterhood.

This is not to say that I don't truly cherish and love some of the friendships I've made through the sorority. Meredith, Laura and Amanda...I wouldn't have met you three if it weren't for DZ and I love you truly. There are a few others that fit into this group, but they don't read my LiveJournal anyway, so it's pointless to name names.

Tomorrow is preference and I still am not sure if I'll be recruiting anyone or not. Four girls that I really liked came back through Round Three, so I'm hoping that I can pref at least one of them so I'm not sitting on my ass all day staring at a wall (like I did today). I'm so anxious for this whole thing to just be over so I can put it behind me and pretend that it never happened. A year from now, none of this will ever matter...
