This weekend has been a lot of fun and I am really starting to enjoy the summer. Friday night I went to see Madagascar with Lauren, her boyfriend, her cousin, her friend Ashley and Tausha. The movie was really bad but the company was great. Somehow we managed to turn a really bad movie into a fun night. We are always able to make each other laugh in situations like this. I love it.
For example: There was this little kid sitting on his mom's lap one row in front of us who would not stop moaning, literally moaning, throughout the whole movie. Every ten seconds we'd hear a loud, ughhhhh, ughhhhh. It started getting so annoying that we'd go to the bathroom in shifts just so we could make faces at the kid or give dirty looks to the mother who never once told her kid to shut his trap.
After the movie we went to Roadhouse for a late dinner because Christine just started working there as a waitress. We were hoping to get her table and maybe a discount, but we were too late and she had already gone home for the night. We still sat and ate even though I think that restaurant's food is pretty ghastly (the caeser salad was awful...how do you manage to screw up a caeser salad?)
Lauren left for New York yesterday morning and I can't help but be a little bit jealous. It may sound silly, but being in New York for the summer was supposed to be MY thing...I'm the one who even made Lauren think about applying for internships in New York and then ironically she is the one who gets to go and I'm stuck at home. Not to say that my current situation hasn't turned out to be a blessing in disguise. My mom and I are getting along really well, the job is good even though it's boring and I'm in love with my salary because I actually can buy myself things without feeling guilty. I earned it yanno?
Saturday I just bummed around most of the morning and afternoon and I went to see Star Wars again that evening. I went by myself which sounds so dorky, but there was no one who wanted to see it so I had no choice. It was just as good the second time. I just love those movies. You notice things the second time that you didn't even see the first time and after reading a lot of reviews, I knew what cameos to look for and what events to analyze.
Yesterday I ran a bunch of errands, hung out with my grandparents, went for dinner with my mom and just had a relaxing day. And today was relaxing too - we went to Barnes and Nobles and killed the whole afternoon looking at and reading books. We sat in the cafeteria and shared a piece of cheesecake and read all afternoon. I wound up buying a bunch of books because I raided the bargain section and found hard covers on sale for $5! I got two chick-lit books, a story about a girl who loses her mother in the Sept. 11 tragedy, a "Making of The Revenge of the Sith" book to satisfy my Star Wars craving and the Sex and the City Kiss and Tell All book. I am most definitely stocked up for the summer when it comes to reading.
I also joined LA Fitness this weekend and worked out for the first time since my surgery. I was surprised at how out of shape I had become in a month. I also started to feel pressure in my nose after 20 minutes so I had to take it slow. And I'm sore today! Slowly I need to work back up to my normal routine so that I can be in shape for the fall semester.
I also ordererd a bunch of GMAT test prep books this weekend. I'm so excited to start reading them, which again, sounds utterly dorky. I am really motivated about doing well on this test because I've discovered that a lot of schools have specializations in Entertainment and Media Marketing which is 100% up my alley. If I can be in the movies, I may as well market them, right?
Tomorrow starts another work week and a busy one at that. Tomorrow night after work I am taking a Latin dance class at the gym, Wednesday night I'm meeting some friends and my old drama teacher for dinner, Thursday night I have a personal training session and Friday is Pay Day! I'm not sure yet what I'm doing for the weekend, so let me know if anyone wants to make plans!!
