Phase One of my plan has been realized.

I'm bad. I know it. I want to cause a scandal and I knew that that would, if anything could. Fortunately, Starkey is just as bad. She alone knows that it is a relative of mine, who is getting married, and that I am merely a lowly usher in the wedding. Thus, technically, I will be walking down the aisle, while escorting ladies to their seats. As for my former roommate, who also now lives in Houston and with whom I dined tonight, will be walking down the aisle on 7/7/07 in Boe Chapel. I will also have some role within that ceremony from what I've heard. Why is everyone getting married? It's kinda creepy.

Also this Saturday, my nephew turns TWO. The birthday party is on Sunday. I found out yesterday that I am responsible for the planning/prep. Talk about short notice.

Saturday is also the Homecoming dance/game, which I was asked to chaperone. Unfortunately, I had to decline.

And as if Saturday weren't busy enough, this weekend if the 40-something-th anniversary of the Houston Greek festival. I really wanted to go Greek Folk Dancing. It's been way to long.

In other news, Amy emailed me today asking if I had a relative, who is a Franciscan priest in Cleveland. Apparently, she went to mass at a Carmelite monastery this morning, wearing a St. Olaf sweatshirt. The priest said he had a relativewho graduated a couple of years ago, a classics major by the name of David. Now I'm not in touch with my father's side of the family, so it may be some freak coincidence. Or the David in question is Varvel. Either way, I am now on a mission to discover the truth behind the mysterious David.

In closing, I leave you with a piece of wisdom imparted to me by my students: Latin isn't dead, only the people are. Goodnight.
