Yahoo accounts -- Public Service Message

If you have a yahoo mail account, you might want to check on it. I've gotten spam from two hacked fandom-related accounts in the last week.

Thanks for that info. My account was hacked recently, and when I checked the log-ins, it showed two from Romania, one of which was from Yahoo mobile. What a nuisance! What a stupid thing for them to have added without letting us opt in rather than just give it to everyone. I've deleted it now.

There's also an option to turn on SSL: Make your Yahoo!7 Mail more secure with SSL (i.e. preventing others from accessing your account at Internet cafes). Is it a good idea to do that, too?

Thanks! I deleted all of the Yahoo Mobile app crapola. I don't even use apps for Yahoo or email. So annoying that they'd just add that without telling you. >:(

Thanks for this info - I was hacked about a year ago and always wondered how they did it. I was actually logged into my email and saw the messages going out in the sent folder. When I checked the sent headers, it was being sent from the Czech Republic.

Thanks for this. I was hacked earlier this week. This is very helpful!

One can't log into her phone -- I assume that used an account that yahoo had the password to, or that she had the password somewhere in her email. I only use yahoo for IM with other people on that service, so I shouldn't be too susceptible -- I haven't set up mail or account linkages of any sort. I did check it though.

(& hi! Glad you didn't have any further trouble. :-)
