Intro Page/FAQ
It probably would have been better to put this one first, but creativity does not always flow in a straight line, so you'll have to forgive me there. But once I posted the Races of Sadu: Overview, I figured I should put up a bit of an FAQ of sorts for what I'm going to be using my LJ for. Certainly not for random updates on my life, as if I want to talk about that I prefer active chat. This is going to be an exercise in world building(both the Crunch and the Fluff), a place to try and get some stories in the worlds in question written down, and a way to force myself to wrangle the many ideas bouncing around my head into a written format that others can read and understand, since that's a skill I'm sorely in need of improvement on. Largely the reason for this is just to see if I can do it.
A mere test of ability, if you will.
So let me break this down into sections here:
Sadu: The first of the few worlds I'll be trying to develop here. I'm already running a game in it, there's already alot of info about the world...just very little of it written down. It's a DnD 3.5 campaign setting with a whole slew of house rules, which in this case are less of the "herp derp gotta fix problems with the system" kind and more of the "make the setting unique and interesting" kind. Generic DnD Fantasy settings have long since lost all interest for me, so Sadu is pretty wonky in alot of ways. If there's one thing I can say for a fact I've done right with this one, it's that it is not remotely generic.
World Building: Sort of the catch-all for setting notes about a world. Expect crunch and fluff in equal measure here.
Mechanics: Exactly what it says. May or may not be connected to a single world, depending on if I combine it with the above tag.
Stories: This is where actual fiction I write will go. No mechanics or crunchy bits here. Once I have actual stories, I'll make new tags for the titles of course.
Characters: I like character bios, what can I say. Once stories get posted, I'll have Character entries for most major players. Also, I may occasionally post bios of characters from any games I run in the settings I have on here, just to get in practice for it.
Here There Be Spoilers: Once I have stories up, I'll start using this tag. Pretty self explanatory, if you don't want spoilers, don't read anything with this tag.
Food: I'm an amiture cook and a great fan of good food. Sometimes I have random thoughts about food I may want to write down. This tag isn't part of the projects, it's just for something I sometimes talk about.
Video Games: I'm also a great player of video games, mostly jRPGs with some wRPGs thrown in and a handful of Fighting Games for good measure. I may occasionally have something to say about them. Like Food, not part of the projects.
And sadly, that's it for now. I'll edit this entry when I have new sections, such as new worlds or stories.
Now, for a quick note. Most of the stuff in my journal, such as almost all of the project stuff, will be friends locked. I'm pretty lax about who I'll add, in case you stumble across this and are interested, but I do want to know who's reading it.
