I absolutely LOVE this. You really manage to capture the same emotions as the original story, wistful, tentative and bittersweet. I like how you portray Cam, as someone who is very outwardly confident but hiding a real tender affection for John.

So in other words....Squee. eeee.

Oh yes! I can't believe someone got assigned to me who writes Cam/John, or that it was you :) And I love this so much; that Cam's been wanting it for a long time, but he can't take the risk until he's already in a bad place, that he wants John to be happy even if it means him leaving SG1, how much he just *cares* for John, who's so walled off. And the ending, that it didn't make things better, in fact it made them worse... So, so much love for all of this, thank you!

I think Cam would have that kind of generosity, wanting someone he cares about to be happy even if it costs him.

For me there's something enormously sad about a John who doesn't have a connection to Ancient technology. He seems so purposeless. Although, I'm sure he's happier than a John who joined SG-1 after being kicked out of Atlantis.

I love that Mitchell is prepared to lose John. That he thinks John is going to go back to Big Air Force or become an F-302 pilot. These two are just so bad at talking to one another.

They really are terrible communicators, aren't they? Each making all sorts of assumptions about what the other's thinking, and afraid to ask for what they want.

I think Cam would want John to be happy, though, even if it cost Cam. He just needs to take better care in determining what actually would make John happy.
