Thoughts on SG-1: ep 9.13 - "Ripple Effect" and SGA: ep 2.13 - "Critical Mass"

Okay, this episode just rocked! Really, I loved it. Despite all the nitpicking I do below. It was one of those funny, quirky episodes that I will be revisiting time and again. Where to begin...

Let's get the ugly stuff out of the way first....

The cons and nitpicks:

- Let us not examine too closely the lack of entropic cascade failure (sorry but I didn't buy the one liner explanation)

- Why only SG-1? Well, they kinda answered that, but not really

- Sam and Martouf almost kissing. Okay, let me explain this. You guys KNOW I'm not a S/J shipper by any means. But even so, it's already been stated in CANON, this season, that she wasn't "available" and there was "Someone" else. So, she'd just blow that off by kissing Martouf? And this was at a point in which it didn't appear that he would get to return home. If she really would, then I'm not even going to say what I'd think, because it's not pretty.

- And speaking of Sam, let that poor woman and her love life, or lack thereof, ALONE!

The Pros:

- Janet! OMG! *dies*

- Martouf! OMG! *flails*

- 18 Daniels can only be a good thing, imo.

- Speaking of Daniel, did you get a load of Commando Daniel in the sunglasses, packing the firepower? *fans self*

Observations and favorite moments:

- Our Mitchell knows how Daniel likes his coffee *g*

- When black team and our SG-1 were on Prometheus and they got all confused about anticipating each others moves, Teal'c pulls the best "indeed" ever!

- Mitchell can really crack himself up

- All the Sam's were interesting, but where were all my Daniels? *pouts*

- CamoDaniel and Janet are SO doing it. :D

Sam was really in her element with the technobabble. But I want to know a few things. So, I may can buy the whole "We ripped a hole in the fabric of space-time and now all these realities are converging on a single point", but how did the black SG-1 team know they were landing in a reality where Atlantis not only had a viable ZPM, but the means to reach it by Prometheus. If you've had a chance to check out the post over at Gateworld about some of the cut scenes, here, then you read about the scene where they make reference to Prometheus being destroyed in their reality. Okay, so that seems like a crucial point to have cut out, imo. It gives weight as to why they had to journey to another reality in the first place, but also, what happened to the Daedalus? And what happened to the ZPM in their reality? The other scene that seemed vitally important, that was cut, was black Daniel having second thoughts about what they were doing. It showed they were still SG-1, and not really bad, just pushed to the limits, forced to do something radical and extreme.

Overall, I LOVED it. And I loved Daniel's reaction to Janet and the hugs at the end! Very warm and heartfelt.

"Critical Mass"

One word. Camden! Eeeeeee! I was such a happy girl and shipper. Okay, so I'm a minority shipper, but still a shipper. While it was a short scene with her and Carson, I was still happy. Especially since he made mention the week before about having a date. *g* Did I mention I love her? Well, I do, really I do. And I love how she gets under McKay's skin. I hope we get some more of her next season.

I knew it couldn't have been Cavanaugh. As I told tularia, the only thing that guy was guilty of was being an ass. But having it be Caldwell was a bit disappointing. Of course, the whole episode I was praying it wasn't Camden either.

Am I totally crazy for actually enjoying seeing the goa'uld eye flash? It's sort of comforting, in a creepy way. Like having an old friend fiend come to visit. With all the Ori stuff going on, it just seemed like old times somehow ;)

Okay, that's all my rambling thoughts for now. Sorry this took so long to post, but LJ is being a bitch tonight and my journal has been read only for a while.

sg-1, sga
