Con Day 1 - Wet wedgie anyone?

Apr 02, 2009 22:49

The con festivities didn't really kick off until late in the afternoon, so we kicked it around the mall and stuff. Just hanging out really.

At 3:00, Valerie Halverson, one of the costume designers, came on stage and talked about Stargate costumes and how they are made. It was very interesting to hear about the different designs and inspirations for the clothes. They can do some wild things!

After that, there was the Vancouver Actors Panel that consisted of Fulvio Cecere, Kirby Morrow, Heather Doerkson, Jody Racicot, Michael Kopsa, and Patrick Currie. OMG, Patrick was SO cute! Eeeeeh! I was trying to get pics so I hope they turned out okay. It was so many of them on stage at one time it was hard to keep up. But Patrick, *sighs* he just a cutie pie.

Creation, of course, had to frack things up. Christopher Heyerdahl was supposed to be here and then had to cancel because of shooting. Thing is, they JUST booked him like 4 days ago! Ugh. Anyway, they also apparently booked all the smaller name actors and didn't have any pics for sale to get signed. The finally did show up with some pics, but it wasn't until the last minute basically.

Anyway, I found a pic of Patrick online and ran down to Staples across the street and got a picture copied. So, it worked out. I didn't realize that Kirby did the voice on Dragonball Z. That was pretty cool too.

Then they got ready to show a music video and I'm thinking, yeah okay whatever, until they call my name and ask if I'm there. Holy Frack! I won the video contest! Eeeeeh!

I redid the "Holding Out For A Hero" vid I made a while back and added more team shots. I can't believe I won. A $100 gift certificate. Sweet. And then they ran the video and people seemed to like it. Several people have come up to me this evening and told me how much they liked it. I'm kind of freaked by that, lol.

Then Gary Jones gets on stage and says that song was like 20 something minutes and laughed about all the action sequences and stuff but it sucked because he wasn't in it :P I was laughing and turning red all the same time.

It was my first time seeing Gary and what a trip! He was so funny. He talked about how he auditioned for Walter the Technician and when he read the lines he knew nothing about the show. So he didn't know what the hell was going on when he saw it. The whole Chevron 1 encoded, 2, 3 etc.

He did his James T Kirk impression, which was great. And he said that Peter DeLuise would always make him redo his lines with his Kirk impression. For the episode where the gate disappeared, he said that the other technician was playing around with the see through board with the planets on it and actually flicked one of the planets off the board as they were filming.

Gary let is slip that Jack is going to be a 3-star General now. He didn't say that RDA would actually BE in an SGU episode but I guess maybe they are going to refer to him. Also, during break while we were lining up they announced that Michael Shanks and Amanda Tapping would be signing autographs on Saturday night instead of Sunday night due to filming schedules.

They REALLY hinted that they were both in town, both due for filming, like it was for SGU, so who knows.

Let's see... oh then Andee Frezzell came on stage. She's the actress that plays the Wraith Queens in all but the last episode. She was funny too. She talked about how long it took to get into the makeup and stuff and said, and I quote, "They went through LOTS of KY Jelly on that set". No comment :D No, she said that they used it to give the skin that shiny look so it was smeared all over them. Yuck.

She told the wet wedgie story, which is apparently a known Con story. How in the filming of "Submersion" she had to go underwater for a minute, in full costume and surface, not out of breathe and look all creepy and Wraith-like.

To keep her hair down they tied it to the back of her pants and she went underwater. Well her face prosthetics were made with foam and also her hairpiece had some foam under it, so it was trying to pull her up to the surface and she got a serious wedgie because the hair and mask were pulling on her clothes. LOL.

I got autographs for both Gary and Andee. When I went to get mine from Gary I told him that was my video and that I was sorry he wasn't in it but that I would have put him in it, had he been in Atlantis. He said, "Oh that was you?" Yeah it was me. "Wow, that was really cool." Me *blushing* saying thanks and again that I really would have had him in it. He sits back and gives a really sarcastic looking face and goes, "Yeah, I'm sure." Then smiled really big. lol!

Took a break and ran across the street to grab a bite to eat, then got back in time for Starhole SG 1.5. That was SO DAMN FUNNY! My voice is hoarse from laughing so hard. Gary Jones and Dean Haglund are GREAT together.

For anyone who doesn't know, it was an improv comdey where Dean and Gary reenact an SG episode with the help of the audience. Gary plays Walter, of course, and Dean played General Landry, Sam Carter (in a damn sports bra!), and Spock! Yes, I said Spock. OMG, it was so funny. They are going to sell DVD's of it tomorrow and I know I'm getting one.

So that's it for tonight. I got Valerie Halverson, Patrick Currie's, Andee Frizzell, and Gary Jones autographs so far.

Plus I got the Atlantis Jacket I wanted from Creation with $30 still left on my gift certificate. Which I know will be gone by the end of the weekend :P

Got to get some rest now. It's off to a great start and the best is yet to come.

I'm getting REALLY nervous about seeing Joe and Paul now. *butterflies*
