An update: Or Something Like It

Jul 06, 2006 22:54

I said I was going to give a real update a few days ago. lol! That's funny, isn't it? Yeah, I thought so.

Life has been on full throttle lately. Leaving very little time for the internet or LJ. Bummer. And what time I have managed has been short and sweet. So much so that I found all kinds of ridiculous, crap mistakes on the past few pron entries. After lmichelle599 pointed out one I made the other day I started going back, searching, and correcting. What? Don't look at me like that! I'm OCD! You guys know that.

Stargate Necklaces

Great news is that the silicone mold stuff works great! The molds are perfect and the gates release easy and all the detailing is intact. Not so great news is that the loop attachment at the top of the gate *from the keychain mold* isn't very strong and breaks off VERY easily. :( Which leaves me with only 2 options. I can either figure out a way to wrap the gate in wire or cord somehow or try to mount it/set it in some sort of setting, like for a cabachon. I'm going with the second idea, or I'd like to. Wrapping the gate in any way will obscure the symbols. And well, that sort of defeats the purpose. I'm searching for a setting, but so far am not having much luck.

I did fix the issue with the tiles. Thanks everyone who suggested moving them down. I also added an additional segment of beads to add to the length. It's perfect now! Got some great cord crimps as well. One more step closer folks! I am going to try and work on it again this weekend. More pictures to come, I hope!

House Hunting

Last I mentioned this, I was worried we weren't even really approved. Well, it turns out we are. Apparently the lady at the bank didn't give us a high dollar loan amount because she said that the high dollar limit was so high that it would exceed anything we could afford to pay. Okay.... that's odd. lol. But hey, she said so. And she even ran $175,000 to show us how payments would work out and it came back approved. And that's really WAY more house than we are looking for or could afford.

So we've been looking at options, trying to decide what to do. My mother-in-law started combing the town looking for anything. We found a few stray leads here and there, but it ended up either not being what we wanted, or an offer was already made on it. We've pretty much stalled our landlord here, feigning that we haven't been approved yet and that we aren't sure we can. We have no intention of buying this house, but we don't want to be out on the street if he sells it before we can find a place. I don't think he'd really push us out, but it's a risk I'm not really willing to take.

Anyway, our other option was looking at building. There is a contractor here to builds to suit. We walked through one and it was really nice! We could choose our lot, house plan, colors, etc. But we'd need 3% down and at least 120 days for completion. We are close to having the 3 %, but the 120 day thing could be a problem. Plus it's kinda out in the country. We already live out in the country to an extent, but this is REALLY out in the country. I did check to make sure I could still get cable and high-speed internet though! A girl does have her priorities. :D

But we kept searching, and now we have found a house! We went driving around last Saturday and found it. It was for sale by owner, and we took the number down. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath. 1650 sq. ft. Has a nice utility room, double garage, side by side refrigerator, large fenced in back yard. It's almost 2 acres too. And it's in a nice neighborhood, there are other kids, and it's on a cul de sac, so there's no traffic, except for residents or visitors.

The big kicker was that as we were looking around I noticed on one of the walls, in the dining area, surrounding a large window, that she had a stenciled border. I looked closer and it was grapes! A whole vine with the leaves and stuff. That matches my dishes and kitchen decor!

We went tonight and signed the contract to start closing the deal!

It seems like it's meant to be, or I'm hoping it is. Seeing as how we signed today and it's also our 10th wedding anniversary! AND, as we were leaving the lady's house, we turned and looked over the house towards the horizon and there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky. It's got to be a sign right? A VERY GOOD SIGN! I hope so. *crosses fingers and toes*

I haven't said anything to Carter about it though. That day we went to walk through the house that was being built Carter got so excited and wanted to know what room was his. When we told him that it wasn't ours, we were just looking, he looked like the world might end. Poor fella. I told Craig we shouldn't say anything until we know it's a done deal, for sure. Even know, I don't want to get too excited or anxious because I know things could still go wrong. But it is VERY hopeful!

That's it really. I've just been so busy house hunting and work has been... well, work.

If you made it through this entry, then you deserve a treat! *passes out cherry Jolly Rancher candies* I love cherry candy.

*hugs flist* I hope everyone is well!
