Who: Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, Gai Shishiou, Rei Ayanami, Haman Karn, Asuka Langley, Shinji Ikari, Tio, Shinya Aiba, Yzak Joule, Shinn Asuka, Rey Za Burrel
Where: New Yark (actually the Side 3 room)
When: Last night at around 9 PM EST.
WATCH FOR... Yzak actually telling someone to calm down (LOL), Guy using the Goldion Hammer, Amuro's first hint that there's something strange about his ability, Char being a rat bastard.
Sci-Fi Sector - Side 3
In the year Universal Century 0079, the orbital nation known as the Principality of Zeon declared its independence from the Earth Federation, prompting the devastating One Year War. Side 3 is the location of Zeon, at the second Lagrange Point (L2), placing it on the far side of the Moon and out of sight of the Earth. It consists of some hundreds of orbital colonies, and the asteroid space fortress A Bao A Qu.
Each colony is a large, cylindrical spacestation holding roughly a million people, powered by a mixture of nuclear and solar energy. Within each colony, cities can be found, complete with manufacturing and commercial elements. The government of Zeon, however, directs their colonies in a totalitarian, fascist manner, to utilize their resources to the fullest in the war against the Earth Federation.
This makes this area a heavily militarized, tense place underneath the rule of the oppressive Zabi family. Nationalist rhetoric is at a premium, broadcasted throughout Side 3 nearly constantly. The military forces of Zeon are always on hand, stationed at A Bao A Qu, to protect their homeland and insure the populace stays in line for their war of independence against the Federation.

White Base is in for a nasty surprise today.
Over the Indian mainland, three large carriers are moving through the air - immense, multiple engine skyfortresses known as Gau-class airships. At their lead stands a lean, handsome man with purple hair that he has coiled around a finger. "Icelina," Garma Zabi murmurs softly, "today I'll prove to you, your father, and mine that I'm no fool. Today, the Trojan Horse falls!"
Indeed, the Zeon force today is immense - composed of the complements of those Gaus, including Zakus, Dopp fighters, and a few forces on loan from their Syndicate allies. Among these is a red Zaku, which is on the launch catapult. Char Aznable looks through his mask, down at the terrain passing below them. For him, today will be a different today.
Today will be the day Garma Zabi dies.
Chini Pezzin, a.k.a. Haman Karn is excited about the battle as well, she's excited about fighting under the command of the legendary Garma Zabi. She still remembers his funeral and the impressive speach Gihren gave before the enormous picture of the fallen hero. If she can prevent Garma Zabi from dying, it will be one more step towards swinging the One Year War back to the course it should have followed. She has no idea what Char has planned.
In her histories, Char is still among the greatest Zeon heroes, his actions agains the Zabi family completely unknown. Sitting inside of her regulation green Zaku II (with a few subtle modifications to the internal systems added by her own Axis-Zeon technicians) the young 'Ensign' takes a deep breath and runs another systems check. "I await your command sir," she says over her radio to Char. She's keeping her identity a secret from some of their allies, not wanting anyone to connect the eager young ensign with the ambitious Regent of Axis. Best not to blow her cover so quickly. Despite this, she has allies watching things from afar, members of her own home forces with a special reinforcement should her cover fail her or should she be shot down in battle. It's always good to have backup plans.
Civilians are not allowed on the ship.
Fortunatly, he was no civilian. To most Zeon soldiers who regarded him with confusion or scorn, Shinya may have been thought as a freeloader, someone who did not belong on the vessel, for he is no soldier and showed no interest in discussions about the great future for these people. It was true that he had no interest, but the Aiba twin was there for a purpose.
"Tell me when you launch." is all he asked, which is odd as he brought no Mobile Suit, no visible weapons, most didn't even know how he got ON seeing the Radam Commander arrived without shuttle or aid. He shouldn't even be allowed in the Catapult area, yet few dared to get in his way given how sharp his stare could prove to be, or how casually he tossed away a mechanic that tried to bar his way.
For now, the Tekkaman waits for the catapult door to open and the first suit to launch, he'll just walk out or be sucked out, it hardly matters which.
The great thing about ZAFT's system is that commanders have great latitude to use their resources as they see fit. The Chairman might still be considering an official alliance, but that doesn't stop Yzak and the Joule Team from putting in an appearance.
Yzak adjusts his helmet as his white-painted GOUF Ignited flies along next to the Gau. Fanned out behind him are three ZAKUs on Guul subflight units; two with Blaze Wizard Packs, one with a Gunner Wizard. "Okay you three, keep it simple. No heroics. As soon as we spot the enemy, you three are CAP for this vulture. Those little planes of theirs are crap."
The other great thing about the ZAFT command structure is that when you're a member of FAITH... You can basically go wherever you want. On a very circumspect suggestion from the aforementioned Chairman Durandal, then, another unit has joined the Joule Team for this particular mission.
This mysterious extra unit doesn't need an external system to fly with, travelling along behind Yzak's subordinates and their ZAKUs in its powered-down form, so the mysterious mobile suit appears to be a dark grey colour from head to toe, only the single main jet on its backpack propelling it forward at a speed to match the other ZAFT units. Inside the cockpit of the mystery suit, Shinn Asuka glances around, then ahead. "Tch, like we'll even be necessary," he mutters boredly, though at the very least his fellow Coordinators can probably hear it over the comms. Protocol is for suckers! "If there's anything troublesome, I'll take care of it," he adds, confident - even arrogant - in his own strength.
"...Sir. Look at the radar."
The young soldier at the bridge (no Bridge Bunnies here, no sir!) needs only alert the only true officer on the White Base before he glances down at the readings on his own screen, and stares. "...Good Lord, there's so many of them."
"Sir," Ensign Mirai Yashima reports from the controls of the ship, "we can't take evasive maneuvers at this rate! They'll overwhelm us."
"...Well, then. We have no choice to fight," Noah declares as he speaks over the radio to his fellow soldiers. "All availible fighters prepare to launch! Ensigns Amuro Ray, Hayato Kobayashi, Ryu Jose, Kai Shiden! Ready the ship's guns! We will not let this base fall!"
Bright doesn't need to tell Amuro twice, as the young curly-haired pilot is suited up and ready to launch in the Gundam in a matter of seconds. His heart is pounding in his chest, though. There's so many of them! How can the White Base defend against this sort of Zeon horde?
Bright Noah provides the answer in the message he sends out to IPA personnel. "Attention, agents of the Interplanar Peacekeeping Agency. This is Acting Captain Bright Noah, of the Earth Federation Forces, requesting any availible aid. The White Base is under attack. Repeat, the White Base is under heavy attack! Any aid possible is greatly appreciated!"
Fortunately, the White Base is not far from a Gate.
The form of EVA-00 makes it out by simple virtue of having been on a linear lift path that took it slightly nearer to the relevant Gate. It is carrying something wrapped in a loose protective cloth.
Crouching slightly, it makes its way to the top of a small rise, starting to unwrap its burden.
Rei's impassive expression becomes slightly less 'impassive' and slightly more 'concerned' as the IPA-provided tactical interface protocol starts popping up the targets that White Base can detect onto her display. "White Base," she says, quietly, "prepare cables in case of emergency."
Whatever's under that drop cloth gleams faintly.
Well, the call was sent out, and when those who fought with skill and honor were put into danger, men of courage answered. It doesn't take too long for at least one IPA response to emerge from the gate - out of the swirling vortex, a gigantic robot lion pops out, flying at high speed for the area where the White Base is said to be engaged. Standing on top of the lion's head is a single man - or cyborg really. Guy has his arms crossed, as he listens to his personal radio.
// Guy, we'll be testing out the new space booster today. It should improve on the mobility problems that you've had in combat, but we've not managed to get the Phantom Ring system installed yet, so you'll be using your basic weapons package. Mikoto will be providing support for you on this mission, and we're scrambling Goldy and Mike to the gate as well. They'll launch as soon as they're ready. The chief wishes you luck. //
Guy nods, and gives a large grin, anticipating the action to come. And he then jumps off of the head of the mechanized lion... which swallows him in mid air. Which might seem to be an act totally lacking in sanity, until the lion transforms a moment later, its limbs altering into a more humanoid shape, and its body rotating around to form a humanoid torso. With that, GaiGar heads into battle, prepared to help defend GGG's allies.
Guy Shishiou switches armor modes to Gaigar.
The EVA-02 farts out of the Gate after the EVA-00, holding in position near Rei and carrying, as a weapon, what appears to be a large teardrop shield--though thinner, possibly for use in offense as well as defense. As it stands, she laughs lightly. "So awesome, for once we're gonna see if our Black Sheep buddies can keep up with us!"
White Base asked for help, and the IPA is responding. There are more large piloted robots here than you can shake a stick at, some of which fit in better than others but all of which have obvious utility in a defense against attacking Gundams and related mobile suits.
There is also one much smaller, less immediately eyecatching soldier responding...on foot. Tio is running down roads and across plains, her large ring weapons in their spot slung over one shoulder. She goes faster than a human on foot, or even with a bicycle, but not as fast as a car; the main advantage is that she does not seem to be getting tired from it and never slows down except to avoid obstacles, which she generally detours around.
The observant, or at least observant people with aerial recon and a map, might notice that Tio has gone in a perfectly straight line from the Gate to the White Base's probable future position, accounting for the delay in getting there.
Shinji Ikari sighs, looking around the Entry Plug, whincing at the flavor of LCL, and playing with the buttons on his plug suit's wrist-cuff, and trying not to feel too anxious. "...its been a while." Shinji's not entierly sure who he's saying this to, but it feels approprate. "S-sorry. If makes any difference, I...I still d-don't understand, but I think I'm getting...closer." The words feel akward in his mouth, and he's glad the girls can't hear. He doesn't want them distracted by worrying about another Berserker attack.
There's a feeing Shinji can't really recgonize, but he smiles a little all the same. Absolution, maybe. EVA-01 strides out of the Gate, still looking like Barney the Dinosaur before a knife fight. Unlike the other units, there's no obvious difference on the Test Type Unit...unless you've seen it enough to realize that the extra bits of metal running along Unit-01's back are both new, and vaguely sheathe-like. Also, there is an "I Break For Newtypes" bumper sticker on the back of Unit-01's left shoe, which the tech crew is probably still snickering over.
"I'm h-here." Shinji mutters over the com. "Lets get this over with..."
"We have them in our sights, sir," one of the crew members aboard the lead Gau-class plane says. "They've called in support from one of the nearby Gates, too."
The youngest Zabi frowns, stepping forward. He lets the curl of hair in his finger fall, and regards the forces - complete with the monstrous Evangelion units. Char had told him about those things, as much as flesh as metal. They would not deter him. "That won't stop us. All units launch!" he orders. Sirens begin wailing, as the orders go out. Then, he shouts, "Sieg Zeon!"
Inside of his Zaku, Char smirks. "Sieg Zeon!" he shouts over the radio, with a number of his men. The Zaku drops out of the Gau, firing its back thrusters as it goes descending towards the ground. His machinegun is aimed outward, before the red Mobile Suit lands onto the ground with a clank. He checks his sensors, regarding the ZAFT forces for a moment, and then looks up.
Zakus stream from the Gaus, landing on the ground in short order.
Ensign Pezzin launches, falling straight down and letting the thrusters on her backpack slow her descent. Thanks to some tenchical tweaks from the geniuses on Axis, the response rate of her systems has been increased 20 percent and the general weight reduced by about 10 percent, not enough to really show that she's done something fishy with her MS, but enough to give her a slight edge over other units of similar make, with the possible exception of Char's own MS-06S. Landing with a soft jolt, Ensign Chini Pezzin has her Zaku 90mm Machinegun already locked and loaded, pointing to the White Base. "Sieg Zeon," She mutters, a smile crossing her face.
With that, she lets her fingers do their intricate dance over the controls, firing thrusters, leaning the unit forward and allowing her clunky-looking Zaku to positively skip across the ground in leaps and bounds, all the while firing at the massive Federation secret weapon. "This will be the end of the Trojan Horse, then end of the Gundam and the end of the Federation. For the Glory of Zeon and the Liberation of our people!"
While giant robots fly and prepare for battle, a man falls from the sky, having jumped out from one of the Gaus. There's no worry about him, in fact, Shinya finds this part the most boring one. After atmospheric re-entry, falling from several thousand feet loses a bit of it's appeal and blood-pumping effect, but at about two thousand he points his crystal up by his position, down to anyone else. The crimson gem glimmers for a moment as the wielder shouts the keyword, and a brighter flash of red occurs as Shinya Aiba dissapears.
And may he like it or not, one of the Zakus following Commander Aznable just became a perch for Tekkaman Evil as the armored Radam warrior appears on one of it's shoulders. If he likes his suit in one piece, that pilot will shut up and advance.
Yzak Joule turns the GOUF's head to peer at the Destiny, as he lowers the visor on his white helmet in preparation for combat. "Don't get cocky, kid. This thing is supposed to be like the Legged Ship. Slip up and you'll be dead."
Then he turns to look at the ZAKUs. "Stand by. Your job is to keep these junk heaps in the air. You've all got the red jackets, time to prove you earned it!" Then he guns the throttle, sending the GOUF zipping through the air free of any supporting vehicle.
"Archangel?" Shinn muses, exhaling a slow breath. Wouldn't it figure that, even in this dimension, there would have to be a bunch of stupid meddlers like those? Likewise, he closes the visor on his red flightsuit, and then his left hand briefly slips over the controls, hitting the button that activates the Phase Shift Armor.
Colour bleeds into the previously dead-grey mobile suit, white and blue and red with some gold highlights... A colour scheme that people in this world might actually be familiar with, though they're probably not expecting to see it here: But the fact of the matter is that ZAFT brought their /own/ Gundam to this little party.
The wings on the back of the Destiny Gundam unfold, and the Wings of Light activate, immense fans of energy to either side of the mobile suit propelling it forward along with Yzak's GOUF. "Like I'd die here," he finally replies to Joule, red eyes focusing on the target area in front of them.
Bright doesn't breath a sigh of relief when the IPA aid comes, in all shapes and sizes. (Though my, those are /enormous/ Mobile Suits sent from NERV and GGG!) There will be no time for relief until the battle is won. The White Base's own mounted guns begin firing, though the ship hangs back rather than charging directly into battle. That would be foolish. Ensign Pezzin's shots do indeed do damage to the surface of the Base, and it returns fire with its guns in turn.
The RX-78 Gundam launches from the "catapult" and flies towards the Zeon fleet, followed by Kai in the bazooka-armed Guncannon and Hayato and Ryu in the landbound Guntank. The latter two land and start open-firing on scattered Zeon troops, while Amuro surveys the area, relieved to see friends both familiar and unfamiliar. Armed this time with a Gundam-scale bazooka in lieu of the Pulse Rifle, Amuro signals to the others to let them know of his presence before flying in, when something catches the attention of that weird part of his brain.
Two somethings, in fact, which worries him. But one is very familiar and very strong. He still isn't entirely sure why, but even before his eyes fall on the red Zaku II, he /knows/ Char is here.
The Federation's most powerful Mobile Suit lands on the ground, firing off an explosive round from the shoulder-mounted bazooka at Aznable and his nearby troops.
And then double-takes. "-THEY have a Gundam?!"
Amuro Ray gets a glancing blow on Char Aznable with his Bazooka (Joe) attack.
EVA-00 finishes unwrapping the Type 20 Self-Carried Positron Rifle. It has, at last, been completed.
The Evangelion steps back into the small ridge between hills, using the top of the rise as a resting place as it crouches again, sighting along the weapon out towards the enemy carriers.
Rei has a moment of pause as the signals begin gathering together towards the leftmost of the enemy fleet. The ship is filled, she knows, with humans. Many of them are not active aggressors, but -
they are not yours
- it doesn't matter. She puts the target in the center of the sights and presses the relevant controls.
A beam of blue-white light bright enough to leave track marks in the vision of those looking directly at it streaks out, following the Earth's rotational pattern in a slight curve towards the left-hand Zeon carrier. After this, part of the Positron Rifle opens up, hissing steam.
If Bright thinks that GaiGar is big, he's about to see it get a lot bigger. As the now transformed Galeon, fused with Guy, cruises along above the ground. And then the gate flashes again behind it, spitting out three more units. All of them curve around to meet up with GaiGar - some sort of flying bullet train, a massive stealth fighter with large nacelles on the end of the wings, and a large tank of some sort, mounting a pair of drills on the front.
Back at GGG headquarters.... "Chief, GaiGar is about to engage the enemy. He's requesting permission for Final Fusion." "Very well then - Final Fusion... APPROVED!" "Understood. Final Fusion - Program... DRIVE!"
Yet another control panel is sacrificed to Mikoto's overenthusiastic activation procedure, And GaiGar and the Gao Machines vanish inside of a tornado of green light - and when that fades, the completed unit is revealed. GGG's mechanical warrior, developed to fight the Zondar Robo menace - GaoGaiGar!
All his preparations complete, Guy flies to take up station in front of the White Base, ready to intercept all comers.
Guy Shishiou switches armor modes to Gaogaigar.
Asuka can't charge and eviscerate the Destiny Gundam when it is flying--at least, not without superjumping a lot and Asuka has doubts as to the range. What looks like a missile silo pulls up out of an arm and fires a spray of needles at the incoming Destiny Gundam. It isn't as powerful as Asuka is in melee but that's the point--she's aiming for the wings and movement thrusters, trying to damage them just enough to ground the mech.
Sieg Zeon? "Pig Peon!" Asuka shouts out to the Gundam, holding the shield in front of her body. This is, of course, in preparation for return fire. Asuka advances forward while spraying needles so that Rei isn't affected by any return fire.
Asuka Langley gets a glancing blow on Shinn Asuka with her Needles!!?! jab.
[Fac-Syndicate] Char Aznable | Garma Zabi says, "We need someone to take on the large unit with the poistronic rifle!"
[Fac-Syndicate] Shinya Aiba hms.
Tio only slows down once she actually enters the area designated as battle space. She pulls both rings from her back, holding one in each hand near the small grip, and advances a bit more slowly and safely. Notably, she does not immediately start throwing at attacking troops.
This is probably because Tio is busily listening in to White Base radio frequencies and getting more or less up to date, as well as a complete list of friendly targets. Her antennae twitch once in a while, more than their normal bobble when she's moving around, as she counts up opposition and identifies as many as she can.
Shinji Ikari wasn't even supposed to be here today. He had a report to finish, a load of school to catch up on, dinner to cook...well, okay, Shinji wants to help Amuro and his friends, but young Ikari finds complaining to himself to be a nice way to shake off the pre-fight jitters.
'I don't want to hurt them...' Shinji rationalizes, '...but they know there are civilians...and little kids on that base, and they're still attacking it. They're...' Shinji thinks back, frowning as he remembers seeing a group of Zeon soldiers at the Myers Building's back bar, cheering on a soccer game and singing some song in a language he only knows the swear words to. 'They're...just people, even if their leaders are jerks.' Shinji admits, hoping he can still do this.
"Hey." Shinji mutters, clear on the coms. "That Zaku's...?" Shinji blinks, hearing a faint voice from the machine's speakers. His eyes narrow, his hands begin to shake, and he can't help letting a little growl into his voice, "...I know that skip."
Suddenly much more okay with the idea of wading through a battlefield, Shinji and Unit-01 charge forward from the White Base, Unit-01's left hand holding its subtle new addition, while the right hand trails to his waist. An ATField shimmers around the Evangelion, as Shinji's reddening vision fixates on the modified Zaku that led the attack on Von Braun City. Some hazy part of his brain remembers that he's supposed to be monitoring data, and he manages, "R-releasing the prototype. B-begin recording." Stop talking want to fight want to CUT HER oooh yeah violence baby its the zetigeist the thing the new wave man cut her allready!
"Okay." A dazed Shinji says, and there's a hiss of metal on metal as Evangelion Unit-01 pulls out an enormous samurai sword from its back-waist. The Magnalock Sword's magnetic vibration engine begins humming with power, as the Third Child lets out a war cry, swinging his weapon in a massive overhead slash!
Shinji Ikari gets a glancing blow on Haman Karn with his Neon Genesis Champloo attack.
The rocket from the Gundam's bazooka slams into the ground, exploding violently not far from the foot of Char's Zaku. The explosion throws the red Mobile Suit to the side, some chunks of rock slamming into the armor and denting it inward. However, this does not bring the Red Comet down - far from it. However, one of his Zakus takes the brunt of the explosion and is thrown onto its back. Smoke wafts from its visor, which shattered with the explosion.
"I don't have time for this today, Amuro!" Char shouts over the tactical network. His machine takes a knee, bringing the 90mm machinegun up to aim at the white Mobile Suit as it comes in. Its sights move down with the Gundam, as it falls, until he finally gets a lock. Then, he pulls the trigger - and the Zaku does the same, firing a burst of shells at the famous Federation suit.
In the meantime, Garma's face is lit up by a flash of light as the positron beam slams into one of the flanking Gau's. It rips through the nose, tearing through the back of the vehicle. The massive plane folds inward, crumpling onto itself, before it finally explodes in a massive flash of light. Chunks of flaming steel and the like coming raining down to the ground, as the massive wreck descends into the ground and explodes in a large jet of flame.
"Sir, we have a large unit in front of the Trojan Horse," one of Garma's bridge crew replies. "What should we do?"
"Concentrate the mega particle cannons on that!" Garma replies. The affirmation comes back, and the remaining Gaus aim their mega particle cannons at the GaoGaiGar. Beams of green light erupt, flying out and evaporating the air around them - before coming for the robot. The Zakus and Dopps on the ground also rush in, charging towards the White Base and its defenders alike.
Char Aznable hits Amuro Ray with his 90mm Machinegun attack.
[Fac-Syndicate] Char Aznable says, "I'm engaging the Gundam. Our troops are converging on their position - look out for two other units, plus a fightercraft."
Yzak Joule continues to draw nearer, watching as the giant MS pulls out a big rifle and opens fire. The positron beam narrowly misses one of the ZAKUs, which pulls up as the beam hits the Gau dead center. This causes Yzak to set his jaw; his target is clear now. He drops low to the ground and reaches behind his shield as he continues to fly along, zipping between buildings with unnatural speed.
As Yzak draws nearer, the ZAKU that Rei almost vaporized levels its own positron cannon and opens fire. Whether it hits or not, the real goal becomes obvious: Yzak's GOUF Ignited leaps straight up and over a nearby building, heavy beam sword held overhead and aimed to come crashing down on the EVA's head.
"This is no Zaku, boy! NO ZAKU!!"
You hit Rei Ayanami with your Support Attack + Heavy Beam Sword attack.
[Fac-Syndicate] Char Aznable says, "One is an artillery Mobile Suit, and the other is closer to a tank."
Haman Karn finds herself in combat with one of those towering, gangly things Lt. Celo called 'Giraffes'. She doesn't know they're called Eva Units and frankly doesn't care. All she cares about is that the towering monstrosity before her just scored a hit on her shoulder with that dangerous looking, vibrating sword it's hands.
She doesn't give any witting response, or even speak to her attacker in the least. What she does do is this, fire at the Eva Unit with her 90mm Machinegun, over and over and over and over and over as rapidly as it can expend the ammo. She's so close, she doesn't even try to aim and uses ther free arm of her Zaku to reach for the Heat Hawk sitting on the skirt armor of her MS.
Haman Karn hits Shinji Ikari with her Say Hello To My Little Friend! attack.
Shinya Aiba watches the particle beam soar through the sky with interest, the crackling of energy, it's a sublime weapon of destruction and he can appreciate that. Part of him wonders if that sort of energy could be realigned, but the Tekkaman has no real desire to try this right now.
His gaze sweeps the area, noting the various hostiles. The titanesque machines (They are machines, right?) seem too much of a bother for the moment, the Radam warrior considering to start decapitating the smaller ones, when his eyes catch a glint. Crimson visor turns toward it, and he notices an enemy scout, probably providing tactical data to those foolish Peacekeepers. Or perhaps she is a sniper as well, who knows?
Tekkaman Evil has no intention to let this one show it's colors, as red flames ignite on his back and thrusters propulse the armored human toward the robotic person on the ground, Tekk Lancer thrown her way. Warning shots? What are those and why should he care for them?
Shinya Aiba hits Tio with his Tekk Lancer: It slices it dices it makes julian fries and also makes a wonderful throwing weapon attack.
It would seem that somebody is shooting at Shinn. Alarms go off inside the Destiny's cockpit, and the Gundam moves quickly - but not quickly enough to avoid Asuka's salvo of needles entirely. "Dammit...!" he grouses, and his suit reaches over its right shoulder, grasping the long handle of the immense Arondight anti-ship beam sword, unlimbering the weapon which unfolds and locks to its full size, the beam blade igniting... And then suddenly the Destiny is rocketing straight towards Asuka's Eva.
Of course, the Destiny is fast - incredibly fast - as it flies towards the other mecha on its Wings of Light, leaving a confusing series of after-images as it zigs and zags towards the Eva, but even with that confusing movement it hardly seems to slow down at all. "DON'T YOU UNDERESTIMATE ME!!" Shinn yells, using his unit's remarkable maneuverability to try and get /behind/ Asuka's unit, swinging at her with a sword designed to cut through battleship. "YAAAAAAH!"
Shinn Asuka hits Asuka Langley with his Arondight Anti-Ship Sword attack.
There are murmurs of surprise as the massive GaoGaiGar provides cover for the White Base, but no complaints. Two little boys and a girl run up and press their faces to the glass, watching the gilded giant and the other two "monsters" doing battle. "Woooow!" "It's so big!" "Dat's sho cool!" They hardly listen to the warnings of Fraw Bow, who just wants the three orphans to get back to shelter!
When the flood of Zakus and Dopps arrive, they encounter gunfire from the Guncannon and the Guntank, which do their best to stand guard on behalf of the White Base, flanking GaoGaiGar on either side. Kai is almost tempted to invite the charging forces to "bring it on," but that might be a little unwise.
The Zaku's shell fire knocks the Gundam back, doing some damage to the outer armor, but leaving it standing still. It takes a lot to take down a Gundam, even one that might seem old and creaky to the likes of Haman and Shinn. "I DON'T CARE!" Amuro shouts in retaliation, rushing forward with eyes narrowed. He can't think about how soldiers just like him are the Other Side, because that doesn't help him. He knows it's true, but there's no solution he can find. He can, however, think of Char, who is Not Like Him, who Really Deserves it when the budding Newtype raises the bazooka up and tries to bring it down on the red Zaku.
Amuro Ray critically strikes Char Aznable with his WHAP attack.
[Fac-Syndicate] Baron Klaus von Wulfenbach says, "Hm...the voice is similar to one I've heard before..."
[Fac-Syndicate] Shinya Aiba says, "A bothersome scout is on the ground, I will skewer it, then deal with that mothership."
EVA-00's head whirls around as the beam comes towards it. Rei steers quickly to the side - the energy narrowly misses the Evangelion's shoulder, and seems to accomplish nothing due to a flickering distortion near its surface...
Then, of course, it gets sliced in the side of the head.
Rei manages, just, not to scream. The cut misses the eye but leaves a deep furrowed gash in the Evangelion's head, steaming peculiarily as it twists around to face its tormentor.
Rei acts on instinct and swings the carefully-built and rather delicate heavy piece of particle acceleration machinery at the GOUF.
Rei Ayanami hits Yzak Joule with her This Would Be More Threatening If It Wasn't Liable To Break jab.
So, it seemed that whomever was in charge of the enemy flagship was obviously trying to take out the White Base as fast as possible. Guy watches dispassionately as the massive turrets swings around, bringing the Mega Particle Cannons to bear on GaoGaiGar. And then... they fire. And still Guy waits, narrowing his eyes.
And as the beams streak in, looking as if they're going to wipe the King of Braves off of the map, the super robot's left arm snaps upwards, the four crystal studs on the outside of its massive gauntlet flashing in rapid succession. And Guy bellows out, in a voice given by GaoGaiGar itself that echoes across the battlefield: "PROOOOTECT SHAAAAAADE!"
And a shimmering barrier appears in front of GaoGaiGar - with this much energy, Guy dare not try and contain it, but he can disperse it, sending it slashing away a circle around him, harmlessly into the air and to the ground.
Asuka isn't as fast as the Destiny, but its targeting systems are top notch and German. A progressive knife jets into the EVA's hands and she spins to face the Destiny Gundam--she wasn't expecting it to be able to get behind her so quickly. The sword slices through the EVA unit's back, but it doesn't bisect it. Perhaps the EVA unit is tougher than a battleship or maybe Asuka just got lucky. "Underestimate you?" Asuka hisses as she feels the pain in her own back too, "Don't make me laugh, I don't care if you're a Gundam, I won't lose to you!" She drives the knife down for the Gundam's shoulder--a feint, perhaps, as the EVA's fist rears back and thrusts itself right as the Destiny's head. "After I'm through with you you'll be lucky to pilot a golf cart!!"
In other words, it sounds like Asuka is having fun.
Asuka Langley misses Shinn Asuka with her Cut and Punch Combo! attack.
One shot from the 360mm bazooka that the Gundam sports is more than destructive enough - a direct hit would easily prove fatal. The Zaku manages to roll away from taking a direct hit, but the rocket still slams into the shoulder shield of the Mobile Suit. It dents inward, suddenly, before it explodes. The shield is ripped off, which sends it spinning and slashes into the body. Plates of armor are sliced into and the side of the Zaku blacked by flame, before the vehicle is thrown to its side.
Char mutters a curse, swinging a hand down low to grab the arm controls and move the hand of the Zaku. It grabs ahold of a cracker grenade, which it throws out towards the Gundam. It slams into the rock near it and bounces upward, before it explodes in a large ball of flame.
Garma stares, as the mega particle cannons are intercepted by the GaoGaiGar's barriers. He grits his teeth, then shouts again. "We can't let that deter us! Keep firing!" The two planes fire more bursts of brilliant light at the barrier, trying to drill through it with the massive anti-warship cannons. The Zakus on the ground go up here and there, in the meantime - exploding in blasts of flame when the Guncannon and Guntank's shots tear through them. However, they return fire - some shooting bazooka shots at the armored Guntank.
Char Aznable misses Amuro Ray with his CRAZY CRACKA, I'LL KILL YOU attack.
Tio is coordinating. She's good at that - and it lets her get more tactical information before entering battle herself. Mobile suits are, if nothing else, a little out of her size class; Tio is five feet even, including antennae. The amount of time it would take for her ring to do significant damage to one would mean that she wouldn't be terribly efficient. She hates being inefficient.
Concentrating on her electronic input, Tio misses the more visual kind for a moment. The Tekk Lance strikes her side, but she doesn't even flinch when it pierces her; she just turns and faces that way with her flat yellow eyes. Identifying the man-sized source of the weapon, she rears back and throws one of her bladed rings with the tips of her fingers. It surrounds itself with a bloom of energy as it does; she's more than a strictly physical fighter.
Tio critically strikes Shinya Aiba with her Lotus Flower attack.
Bullets should bounce accross the ATField, but Shinji's inexperience with the strange forcefield and EVA-01's being surrounded by enemy units also trying to shoot him makes the field less concentrated than usual, allowing several of the shots to hit the raging purple Angel eater. Shinji feels the little drills in his chest, and the folks at home can detect a spike in the Third's synch ratio.
'Let me oooouuuuttt...'
"I'm BUSY!" Shinji snaps, not noticing that he's vocalizing his conversation with himself. "I...I..." The haze lifts a little, as Shinji and the Eva notice a slower Zaku stumble, just a little. The Magnalock Sword swings again, and with a terrible hissing noise, quickly saws through the middle of the Zaku-Shinji pulls Unit-01's left leg up as the cut finishes, kicking the top half of the Mobile Suit at Haman's ride!
He switches his speakers on, because it seems like the traditional thing to do. "Who are you?! Answer me, damnit!"
Shinji Ikari misses Haman Karn with his Catch stun.
Yzak Joule narrows his eyes as the EVA starts swinging its weapon. "A rifle?" He brings up the GOUF's arm-mounted shield to block the hit, the shield bending and cracking from the force of the blow...but it remains intact, as does the MS. Yzak continues to exert force on the rifle, pushing back /hard/ even as he shuts the beam sword off and slides it back into its place behind said shield...then, abruptly, one of the GOUF's wings flicks out and sends it zipping to the side at an almost unnatural angle. A normal pilot might have risked serious injury doing something like that. However, the GOUF seems perfectly fine, as Yzak raises it's right arm....suddenly a long metallic whip extends from near the mobile suit's wrist, lashing out to try and wrap around the barrel of the positron rifle. Assuming it's successful, the gigantic wire then proceeds to pump the rifle, and the EVA holding it, with several million volts of electricity. Interestingly enough, for a split-second the sky seems to turn purple. That was odd.
Meanwhile, ZAFT's ZAKUs form up on the remaining Gau. The Gunner begins to fire sporadically at the White Base itself, hurling positron beams down-range, while the two Blazes begin to harrass the Guncannon and Guntank from long range with micromissiles. They're sticking to orders, however, and not losing sight of their Zeon allies.
