[Log] Recovery of a Friend

Jun 17, 2008 00:09

WHO: Nono, Kevin Graham, Cid Highwind, Fate Harlaown, Tifa Lockhart
WHEN: 6.16.08
WHERE: The Old Church, Ruins of Midgar (Slums) -- The Planet, Post-Advent Children Era
WHAT: Cloud beat the everloving snot out of Tifa.  IPA folks bust in and find Tifa is injured, but alive.

The kids were on the Shera.  He didn't give the crew permission to land until he was able to retrieve Tifa.  Cid instead took the SA-37 MotorMobile, tires squealing to a halt and sending rubble from the decaying city flying.  He rushed out, holding the Venus Gospel and looking around warily.

It was suicide to come here, but he couldn't leave a friend out here!  He couldn't return to those damn kids without knowing if... if...

He spat in frustration, banishing that line of thought immediately, then barged into the church, kicking the door open with a heavy boot.

Kevin, as soon as he heard the message, took off in a dash. One gate, through another, through another, and hello, rock. He almost tumbles into the church, managing to grab onto one of the doors shortly after Cid barges in. The priest hangs off the door for a second before he quickly hurries down the aisle, reaching to pull off the white coat from around his shoulders and toss it onto the back of a nearby pew. He's already pulling the orbment out of a pocket, to rearrange the quartz for specific arts use.
"Lemme take a look at her. Please- we might wanna help 'er 'for we moe 'er. Th' bleedin' needs ta stop, more than anythin'..."

There is a sound like a window shattering after a brick is thrown through it, unusual in this place only because it seems to be coming from only slightly below the Plate above, and also because it is accompanied by shards of THE UNIVERSE ITSELF tumbling down from the air over the church. They do no damage, but the effect is rather striking, particularly as a girl with hair shining like the bright orange heart of a star streaks down from overhead, somersults in midair, and then shoulders her way through the doors about ten seconds after Kevin barges in.

Buster Machine Seven looks around, confirms that there are no monsters about to claw anyone's throat out, and then powers down; there's a spark of red-white light, as her bodysuit explodes off of her, rearranges by her own will, and then springs back onto her, leaving her in the somewhat daft schoolgirl-meets-military-meets-environment suit uniform of Fraternity. Hers is pink.

Now powered down to her more human levels, Nono jogs over quickly, but doesn't get close like Cid and Kevin do. She has no healing powers. If the JENOVA-maddened SOLDIERs appear, Nono can tank for the medevac team, but that's most of her job, in her own mind. So rather than crowd Tifa, she stops, and stoops over to look at the feathers strewing the ground.

"Are these...?" she murmurs.

Cid dropped the Venus Gospel beside the destroyed radio, kneeling down on the flower bed and crushing a few -- Aerith probably won't mind -- he bends down over Tifa and gingerly inspects the wound.

"Shh..." This comes out more like a nervous hiss out of his clenched teeth, "Dammit, woman.  You've gone and done a fool thing..."  Don't let it be like Aerith!  Don't let her--

The wound was clean.  Blood pooled, but it wasn't a sure death.  He... this wasn't the wound someone would necessarily /give/ if they wanted to kill her.

"Okay, okay."  Cid looked around, frustrated that he didn't think to bring a stretcher or /something/.  Instead, he takes that outstretched arm, reaching for the heavens, and pulls it over his shoulder and around his neck, then tries to get a good grip -- hands under her torso and under her knees.

He looks to Nono, "...Feathers?"  What the hell are those doing here?!  "Maybe... maybe birds are nesting around here."  If she moves like it's bad to move her, though, he'll just hang on to her until he can get his radio back out again.

Then, to the man who looks like a healer, "Got anything, doc--Who's that...!"  Cid has no idea who just barged in, but it's carrying a /scythe/.  Dammit, and his hands are full!  Is this an enemy?!

Kevin sets a hand on Cid's shoulder. "C'mon. Calm down. Ya wanna be angry o'er the situation, but we can't do anythin' 'bout it now." Kevin glances to the others as people are arriving in the church. The priest moves to suddenly take Tifa from the pilot, and move her over to a pew, so that the others can figure things out while he worries over the injured. "She'll pro'ly appreciate it more if we help 'er now. If anyone comes back, jus' keep 'em offa me for a li'l bit."
He reaches into a pocket and with draws a medallion. Thankfully, he won't need any of the upper abilities he can gain through the Orbment- just a little prayer can help her tonight. "...o Goddess, please grant Your warmth upon this poor soul. Bring Your light upon her, and allow her to continue on, as I pray." He holds a hand out over the injured woman, allowing the gentle, healing power wash over Tifa, knitting wounds closed, and at least deadening the pain.

Nono salutes at Kevin, with a faint smile. "I, Nono, will keep any intruders busy, with hard work and guts! Though..."

She looks up, toward the roof, with a small frown. "You can't see the sky at all. How sad...I bet there's not even any birds..."

She sounds wistful. "Without open air, it'd be harder to fight here. I hope they won't show."

Then, still twirling a feather between her fingers, she looks up at Cid, then back at Fate.

"That's Fate," she says, pointing at Fate while smiling at Cid. "She's not evil!" THAT NONO CAN PROVE.

That is most certainly not an it! Red eyes calmly look at Cid as she approaches. "Fate Testarossa Harlaown. I'm a friend." Her scythe is held casually with one hand as she reaches out her free hand to touch his shoulder. "I know you're worried about your friend." A warm smile comes to her face, trying to be as reassuring as she can. "I'm sure she'll be fine." The enthusiasm of the littlest Buster Machine draws Fate's attention. Glancing back, she gives a warm smile. "Thank you for the vote of confidence, Nono."
Leaning to the side a bit, the blonde casts a concerned look down at Tifa and Kevin. "Is there anything I can do to help? I can't do healing magic but I can transport her if she needs to be moved." She can also restrain Cid if he gets too uppity and in the way. Don't make her do it, old man!
When the prayer begins to do its work, red eyes widen. "Magic?" It does appear to work similarly to Yuuno's healing spells.

Cid Highwind meets Fate's oddly /familiar/ gaze with an air of 'what the hell is that'.  ...Kinda reminds me of Vincent Valentine, with those red eyes...  Of course, it's hard to keep that expression on when the little girl is /smiling/ so nicely at you.

"Th-thanks." Wait... did he just thank someone?

Cid reluctantly and quietly gave up the brawler to Kevin, frowning in both frustration and confusion.  He was relieved to find that she was not dead, nor dying... it was quite the scare.  He was afraid that whatever was controlling Cloud would try anything to--

"They're trying to turn us against our friends.  Dammit!"  He stood up, picking up his spear and clenching his fist.  Then, his little 'gar' moment is distracted by praying.  He quirks an eyebrow, but says nothing.  Well, whatever works.

The priest continues to hold his hands out over the woman's body. He closes his eyes, continuously feeding the holy energy into her, without a word to anyone else. He does continue to mumble, but by this point, what he's saying is under his breath, and nearly unintelligable.
Finally, the priest pulls his hand back and he opens his eyes. -and seems to just now realize the attention he's got on him. Slowly, blue eyes trail from Fate, then to Cid. "...I... I'm a priest. That's... th' sorta thing a priest does. Help, an' heal... y'know..." He's not used to this attention.
Changing the topic, Kevin gestures to Tifa. "She'll still have a few injuries, but she shouldn' be as bad as before. She'll just need ta rest. I can' return lost strength, I'm 'fraid."

Yes. Yes he did! And Fate gives him another smile. She's definitely not Vincent Valentine, though. "I'm sure we'll be able to return your friends' minds to themselves. We -will- make them come to their senses." There's a rather determined look in those eyes as she stares intently at Cid.
Her gaze breaks once Kevin speaks up. "Thank you." Glancing down at Tifa, the blonde shifts her grip on the scythe. "Bardiche?" With a glint of yellow light across the gem on its head, the weapon speaks in a deep masculine voice.
~Assault Form~
The scythe blade disappears and the central head shifts into place with a mechanical thunk, releasing a puff of steam. Fate points her Device, now shaped somewhat like a long-handled axe, toward Tifa, and a yellow magic circle appears on the ground beneath her. "I can transport her to the Gate from here if you want. We wouldn't have to worry about carrying her through the city then."

"You don't say!"  Cid replies to the priest, with the faintest hint of an amused grin on his face.  Hahaha, made the poor guy feel uncomfortable!  He crosses his arms thoughtfully, wondering if he should take her directly to the hospital.  The Shera had medical facilities, but... Denzel and Marleen would be worried if he brought her aboard in this state.

"Yeah, we'll get them back."  It was... /alarming/ at how helpful these people he didn't even know were.  Heh.  Maybe they were some of Tifa's customers.  See?  She did have a voice in the IPA.  Hers was spoken through others, perhaps, but these people showed up for a reason, right?  They were helping.

"...is it safe to move her--" Cid notices the yellow circle under Tifa's body and looks nervously at what seems to be the source.  "Hey!  Can you take her directly to the hospital?"  If so, he'll be grateful, it'll solve several problems at once.

Kevin scratches the back of his head for a second, laughing slightly at Cid's answer before he quickly moves to put the medallion and orbment away. "Yah, she should be fine t'move now. He gestures idly towards Fate. "It's up t'her. But keep me posted. If she needs anythin' again, I'll be happy to help."

After giving a quick nod to the priest, Fate glances toward Cid. "If you want her in the IPA hospital, I'll have to make two transports. My dimensional transfer magic has difficulty with some Gates. If there is a good hospital nearby, you just need to tell me where it is."

Cid walks over to Tifa, nodding over her.  "Yeah... but I think the IPA hospital might be better..."  For one, the one in Edge would have had everyone in town talking about her for years to come.  That would upset the kids.  Dammit.  Kids made everything so damn complicated!

"...Wait."  He reached down and took the red sphere.  Summon materia.  "...So this is what you were after."  He smiles, then pockets it.  "...Good girl."  Cid reached over and brushed hair from Tifa's face, then turned away, walking out of the church, cracking his knuckles.  Heads are gonna /roll/.
