WHO: Nicholas D. Wolfwood, Legato Bluesummers
WHERE: Planet Gunsmoke
WHEN: Friday, March 23rd
WHAT: Legato and Wolfwood do battle in a small town on the barren world of Gunsmoke. Meanwhile, Legato takes control of the residents and has them have their own massacre.

It was midday in the unnamed small town on the southern ridge of one of Gunsmoke's many mountain ranges. The people were going about their normal daily lives despite the hardships. Water and food was scarce because of a plant malfunction which left the town as dry as the landscape around it. Despite this, spirits were generally high as the malfunction was still something that occurred recently enough to keep people optimistic that a solution would be found. Maybe the IPL would help them out. Maybe a miracle. The people were only unsure of what would save them.

It was here that Legato had decided to conduct his next attack. Right now however, the blue haired man sat at a local cafe, cutting slowly through a stack of pancakes. He was lucky that they would serve an outsider. Legato probably had a very convincing personality. He smiles to himself, chewing contently on his food.

Some guys get good service no matter where they go. Wolfwood isn't one of those. A lot of times he has to do things Vash's way and try to beg or charm a little charity from someone, which sometimes works and sometimes leaves him starving or lying in a street. Only one way to find out what it'll be today!

The black-clad priest enters the café and walks right over toward the counter without giving the patrons a second glance. Maybe he's gotten too used to having things quiet around here since the gates opened. He and Vash figured Knives and the Guns were long gone, maybe tearing things up in another world. If Vash could find them he'd go running after them to make sure no one was hurt, but Wolfwood was glad he didn't have to worry about Vash risking his neck. With a heavy sigh he sits down at the counter and picks up a menu.
That walk. Legato listened to the newest person walk into the cafe, smiling to himself. He was familar with that one. Only one of a few people carried something that heavy on their shoulders. Such a magnificent weapon in the hands of such a foolish man. Legato takes a bite of his pancakes, glad he hasn't been seen yet. That would make this all the more sweeter.

((Nicholas The Punisher...You are a very easy man to find.)) The voice came from the Priests head if he bothered to hear it. The blue haired man turned to glance over his shoulder at Wolfwood, his eyes almost glowing like a predator in the dark. The man chews slowly and finally swallows before turning back around to his meal. ((Even when one doesn't wish to find you, there you are.))

The man stares at his pancakes, cutting off a bigger piece this time and shoving it into his mouth. The result made Legato's cheeks puff out and the food harder to chew. ((Have you come to see the end?))

Instantly he freezes when he hears that voice in his own head. Part of him always thought the peace he'd been experiencing would come to an end someday, but he didn't want it to. Call it instinct, but he can feel Legato's eyes on his back. Or call it paranoia, but either way he only glances over his shoulder briefly to confirm that it's true. That maniac is sitting just across the room from him.

"What'll ya have?" The voice of the man behind the counter earns a blink and snaps up Wolfwood's attention. "Oh, uh.. I'll have some coffee and one of those danishes." Better not order a lot. He might not be here long! The coffee is poured and he lifts it to drink. ((That's easy then, you can forget you saw me.)) His form of a joke! Wolfwood's no telepath of course but he knows Legato can read his mind like the front page headline just fine. ((The end of what?)) He's afraid to ask. Just be calm, be cool, no need to panic!

Legato chuckles as he swallows awkwardly. He wasn't as much of a mind reader as the Crosspunisher would like to think. He pretty much could just use this trick to have conversations in private. It usually also got his point across. The blue haired man finishes his meal and sets some double dollars down. He would be retrieving them after this little exercise. ((Heh. Forgeting such a man would be not acknowledging the treatment you deserve.))

The blue haired man gets up from his seat and starts walking past Wolfwood's table, giving him a clear view of his pressence. The look on his face would undoubtedly be priceless. ((The end of this town.)) Legato is by the exit now, turning his head to give the priest a deranged grin before continuing his way outside. ((You have 5 seconds to finish your coffee...5...4...3...))

Wolfwood turns his head a little to watch where Legato is going. He's not going to..? The coffee mug is dropped and it spills the dark contents onto the counter and the floor. "Everyone get down!" When he pulls a pistol right out of his coat the people in the café scream, but he's the one they're currently afraid of, not of the quiet man who just left.

When the pistol is turned it's pointed toward the open door and at Legato's back before he opens fire. Part of him knows that he's turned soft since joining up with Vash the Stampede, but the massacre of an entire town wouldn't sit well with Wolfwood even if Vash had never come into the picture.
Nicholas D. Wolfwood critically strikes Legato Bluesummers with his Stop your counting! attack.

Legato doesn't turn as he catches that familiar click from Wolfwood's gun. "Once a traitor, always a traitor." Legato smiles to himself, knowing what comes next. The hero would try to save the town. He would decide to pull the trigger on Legato standing right there. "Hmph." The next second was the loud bang from Wolfwood's gun.

Just before the bullet hits, a man jumps into the way of gun fire, effectively taking most of the force out of the bullet with his own body before it strikes Legato in the back. The white jacket clad man falls out of sight just as more clicks are here. This time, they come from around Wolfwood. It would seem several of the towns people no stare horrorfied as they all seemed to have pulled guns on the priest, turning the safeties off in unison as if someone else was pulling the strings.

From a safe distance, Legato opens a cola, grumbling over the pain of his wound. He would lay low while that healed. For now, he'd let the greatful townspeople give Wolfwood a hero's reward. "Fire."

The townspeople scream as they all open fire on the priest. The barrel flashes clearly visible to the controller drinking his soda.

(Fac-Alliance) Legato Bluesummers sips. "I've been shot."
(Fac-Alliance) Legato Bluesummers sips. "I'm taking care of it."
(Fac-Alliance) Threadbare Bride says, "Lovely! Will you want to keep it?"
(Fac-Alliance) Legato Bluesummers chuckles. "No I will be returning the favor to the man who shot me."

Wolfwood stares wide-eyed when an innocent jumps in and takes the shots for Legato. He might've expected as much. Hearing the clicks that sound in unison the priest briefly freezes before he wills himself to move and grabs the punisher nearby to hold off some of the bullets, then leaps right over the top of the counter to seek refuge behind it. Once the first round of shots goes off he keeps low and runs through the kitchen door that ends up looking like swiss chesse a second later.

Barreling through the kitchen, the priest flies out the back door and into the alley between the buildings where he throws the door shut behind him and leans back against it, panting for breath. Looking down at himself, he can see the crimson stain of blood coming through his black jacket. "Shit." Now he's done it. He's going to get himself killed with this entire town after him. Rather than go out onto the street, he figures the best way to go is up the fire escape to the roofs.

((Running away already, Nicholas The Punisher?)) Legato's voice is sent to Wolfwood's mind once again. He is nowhere insight this time, probably having moved inside to move out of the priest's view. ((However. You do recall the goal of this operation.))

The statement is punctuated by several doors being kicked open and gunfire, followed by screams. It would seem Wolfwood's absence won't stop the fighting. Legato is making the townspeople kill themselves while the priest gathers his thoughts. He doesn't seem to be doing it quickly either, making the actual deaths spaced out so Legato doesn't turn out of bodies.

((This town will die with or without you here, Nicholas The Punisher.)) Legato sits in the shade somewhere close to watch his pawns duel in the streets. He takes a sip of his cola, trying not to focus on the bullet in his back.

Wolfwood scampers onto the roof and then ducks down low to sit back behind the bordering ledge. He looks up over the top and can see down into the street where bloodshed has already begun. But what's he supposed to do about it? He can't knock out that many people and he can't make miracles either. Only an act of God could end this tragedy and Wolfwood is the furthest thing from being divine. "Why are you doing this!" His voice shouts and carries. "Are you trying to flush him out?!" Legato knows who 'him' is. Vash the Stampede would come running in this kind of situation if he were anywhere nearby.
Legato chuckles in Wolfwood's head. ((It is is as my Master has commanded. Make Vash The Stampede suffer. His name has also been dragged through the mud beyond this gate.)) The blue haired man looks toward the shouting and smiles. "Too easy." As Wolfwood looks over the ledge, several of the crowd break off to fire up at him. Others start for a ladder which is thrown up against the building.

((Humanity is a cancer which will destroy the multiverse. My master wishes to see it eradicated. This will also bring Vash the Stampede the suffering he deserves.)) Legato takes another sip from his drink, watching from his vantage point. ((I suggest you start fighting before you become another body on the ground))

"So your master is still alive.." He's out there somewhere. Wolfwood never actually doubted it but there had been no signs of Knives since the worlds had opened up to them and their desert planet. Wolfwood starts to move again, leaving his punisher where it is and going to the ladder to try and kick it down. Others coming up the fire escape will just have to be dealt with, especially when a bullet goes whizzing past his ear. He turns and frowns. "Lord knows I hate to do this.." But he's going to save his own life. At the same time, he doesn't shoot to kill, but just to try and disable the next guy who comes up the stairs. "I guess this means your master is done with me too then! I knew it wouldn't work out!" Even if he makes a joke, as if they were breaking up or something, there's a definite tension under his voice.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood hits Legato Bluesummers with his Down zombie villager! jab.

The ladder hits the ground, taking with it the five people on it and about two or three in the group waiting to go up. This doesn't stop them however but it delay them as they try to raise the ladder again in a different location. The ones coming the fire escape are definately better off as they hit the ground as Wolfwood kneecaps several of them. They scream as the pain is all too real but they are unable to do anything about it as Legato makes them raise their guns.

((Heh. Die.)) The villagers fire on the priest attempting to draw him near the ledge so more can open fire. Legato groans as he gets to his feet, finally able to stop the bleeding. He unholsters his gun, firing a shot near the edge of town. Lets see if Wolfwood takes the challenge.

Wolfwood gets back from the sides of the building, moving to collect his punisher again. He feels like he's stuck in a corner and everyone is closing in on him. But shooting the people of the town is only a temporary relief and he knows that, since their bodies can still be controlled even if they're mangled beyond repair. The only thing to do would be to go to the source itself. "Damnit, why do I have to be a hero?"

Hearing the singular shot gets his attention and he knows whose gun that is. When the punisher is grabbed he leaps from one rooftop to the next and begins to move continuously closer toward the edge of town. Moving fast, he starts down the next fire escape and leaps off to take the rest of the descent at once. Once he has Legato in his sights again, his gun is drawn and he opens fire. Even if he looks confident his thoughts reveal his insecurity. ((He's toying with me..)) Legato's power is greater than this. Wolfwood is a little surprised he's not already dead.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood hits Legato Bluesummers with his Ohmani'mgonnadie! jab.

The blue haired man whirls around taking the shot in the shoulder. He grins as he raises his gun and fires a single shot at Wolfwood's midsection. The resulting gunshot echoes through the town as the other gunshots begin again. ((I told you to die, Nicholas D. Wolfwood))

As if on cue, two windows on either side, break open and reveal two people waiting with automatics on either side of the falling Wolfwood. Legato fires again just as the dual automatics fires at Wolfwood as he still falls from the air.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood breaks your combo.

Wolfwood's leap was, in hindsight, a really bad move! His blue eyes widen at the sight of not only Legato but two controlled men in sight. He brings his cross punisher around to try and take the brunt of the spray of bullets that are fired at him. His aim is changed from Legato to try and deal with the two who are attacking him, but there's no chance for attempting to disable these two. If he hits them they may very well die from Wolfwood's gun. Shots are fired off in haste and when the priest hits the ground he gasps, grimacing at the pain. He's been shot and more than once. When he coughs up some blood and sees it on the dirt in front of him he hisses. "This is bad.."

Nicholas D. Wolfwood gets a glancing blow on Legato Bluesummers with his Lord have mercy! attack.

The bullets hit one of automatic weapon wielders, causing the man to fall from the window to the ground with a sickening thud. The other was turns his attention to the other villagers now as Legato has used up that trick. The man in the white coat, smiles despite the limp in his walk. That bullet from this man still stung.

"Are you really this weak?" He fires off a bullet or two, attempting to strike the man in his exposed shoulders. "I'm not even using my technique to deal with you and you still are a disappointment." The man stands ready as the sun starts to lower behind him. It wasn't dusk yet but it suddenly was alot hotter in the town.

You critically strike Nicholas D. Wolfwood with your Playing with his Prey attack.

If he had a normal body he'd already be dead, but Wolfwood's own regeneration is lending a hand in keeping him alive for now. How long that'll last with Legato approaching him is hard to say but the odds are not in his favor at the moment. "Aaargh!" There's a cringe when the bullets add to the ones that have already entered his body. He really is being toyed with. This is not how he wanted to die. "Bastard.." Wolfwood lifts his gun again and points it at Legato, but his reactions are slowed down and his hand is shaking. Even squeezing the trigger hurts.

He was right. Legato was toying with the priest, advancing ever so slowly. "This is what happens to traitors, Punisher. You brought this end on yourself. However, it will not end with your life today." Legato fires twice into the man's midsection, laughing hysterically. "No, I need you for now."

Legato is now directly over Wolfwood, his large gun at his side, ready to fire yet again or to even pistol whip the priest. "You are pathetic. Even if you'd hadn't deserted your duties, I'd still need to end such a useless fool."

You critically strike Nicholas D. Wolfwood with your Toying Than Toy Story! attack.

Wolfwood's body jerks and he lets loose a scream of pain at the impact of yet another bullet. His hand quivers and drops the gun he's holding. He's going to die here like a dog and Legato is to blame. Oh sure, he can say he won't kill him, but that won't stop him from bleeding to death! Maybe he can drag his half-dead carcass to a hospital before it's too late. Right now the only thing he can do is lie there and gasp for breath. No, he doesn't want to die. If anything he has to warn Vash before it's too late. "Need me?" He still has some role to fulfill? Wolfwood can't imagine what that is since he's turned his back on the Guns, the Eye, and on Knives. Looking up at Legato between some dark strands of hair all he can do is glare.
Legato stares down at the gunman, smiling darkly at that glare. Just as he wanted it. He sends a sharp kick into Wolfwood's side. "Tell Vash The Stampede that my master's crusade has extended past this planet onto the multiverse as a whole. That is one of your duties. The other is to listen to this town die."

Legato smiles attempting to kick Wolfwood's gun away before turning his back and starting to leave. "Tell Vash The Stampede to suffer for hurting my master. Tell him that more suffering is to come. I'll see to that."

He starts to leave just as the violences grows more intense, more gunfire is heard from around Wolfwood. More screams.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood needs a tag.
