[LOG] The Island...of Doom!

Feb 07, 2008 23:36

WHO: Baron Akuma, Daos, Gades
WHERE: Doom Island
WHEN: Tuesday, February 5
WHAT: The Sinistrals unexpectedly play host to a strange visitor...
WATCH FOR!! The Sinistral idea of a good game.

Doom Island

The Fortress of Doom is the center of Sinistral power on every world but their own. From afar, it is an immense castle with tall and narrow spires, and thick and foreboding walls. The battlements and turrets are patrolled by animated suits of armor, undead servitors, cultists, and immense monsters (such as dragons and winged eyeballs).
The inside is similarly large, but slightly brighter than outside. The walls have numerous crystal windows; many are painted murals, demonstrating Sinistral glory. The floors, too, are crystalline.
The insides are patrolled by fierce dragons and even stronger warriors, suits of armor animated by powerful and long-lasting spells. The center of it is especially well-guarded, as it holds a long hallway, often sealed by a magic barrier - which, in turn, holds the courtyard of the Sinistrals.

One always wonders what Sinistrals do for fun. After all, god-like beings surely lack the same sense of entertainment others do - and their inner sanctums are often not accessible to researchers. Especially to researchers who have any desire to live for long. That said, the Sinistrals /do/ relax - they can't pillage and burn at every hour of the day.

Thus, deep within Doom Island, far beyond massive and sheer walls of granite patrolled by lizardmen, past pools of tepid water and towering, bleak spires, and through gates made of black steel and covered in spikes, the domain of the Sinistrals stands: a massive crystalline platform with four thrones. Two are currently empty. And they overlook...

...a large field, which Daos has placed the 1972 Miami Dolphins and the 2008 New England Patriots to determine which team is /really/ best.

A sobbing ESPN sportscaster is there for good measure. "And the Dolphins take the 20... oh God, please don't kill my family!"

"We shall see... worm," Daos grumbles.

Another excellent question would be how Gades got a cap to fit, with the proper colors of the Miami Dolphins.

Of course, he does not cheer for them, but he is a little skewed to be in favor of the mortal team that seemed stronger to his eyes. His judging ability can be off once in a while however...

"Killing his family...hm...too simple." does think aloud the redhaired superbeing. "Perhaps turn them into vicious killing machines without remorse or regret or memories of their past lives, as they hunt you down through an exitless maze..." and he can say that with such a smile too. "But, this match is not over, for your sake."

"Ho ho...the human heart is such an amusing plaything, isn't it? It reacts so wonderfully under even the slightest touch of duress..."

...that is most certainly not Amon.

Rather, with only the faintest flicker of warning, someone completely different is behind the divine dynamic duo, standing there like he belongs. He is man-sized, yet everything else is decidedly on the alien side of human - from a too-wide mouth with too-sharp teeth, to talon-like nails and leering eyes.

He does not seem to be even slightly worried about the fact that he has just trespassed into the inner sanctum of a group of god-like beings that embody things like 'destruction' and 'terror.'

He speaks again once he has their attention: "I am Baron Akuma. I hate to take you away from your entertainments...but we have business."

At first, Daos doesn't look forward - he presumes this to be a particularly stubborn and presumptuous underling that he is about to put in his place. When he realizes the voice and the aura of the person are not ones he knows, though, he turns. It is not unheard of lone heroes to try to break into the Fortress of Doom.

They tend to end up in the pit below, if they aren't simply killed. Instead, though, Daos finds himself looking at anything but a hero. He raises a hand, and a whistle is blown below - and the game stops.

"It appears we have an unexpected guest, Gades," Daos says. He stands up from his throne, and looks at Baron Akuma. "Traditionally, we mercilessly kill those who enter these chambers unannounced."

Gades was not even going to look. He too assumed Daos was going to bring the Terror of Terrors on this brash fool in seconds and with a wave of fingers. It's when the Lord turns that the sword-wielder Sinistral looks momentarily to the robed superbeing and then back at the source of this interruption.

Just as a kickoff was about to happen too, but when the signal to freeze is given, boy do the humans freeze.

"And is this odd guest who introduced himself going to be just one more 'traditional' intruder, I wonder." business? What business would this being have with them? A sword appears in hand, and he seems in no way worried about the 'how the deuce did this man get in here' part. "Shall I, my Lord?"

Baron Akuma's lips curl backward into a broad grin. "I see I have your attention. Excellent. We have much to discuss."

The Baron gives Gades a momentary look, as if assessing the amount of danger he poses. Apparently he isn't too worried, because he returns his attention to Daos. "A wise policy indeed, for men of your stature. You will find it unncessary today, however. I have come with an offer."

Daos almost lifts his hand, to order Gades forward - but at the word offer, he holds it in place. He tilts his head, looking briefly at his fellow Sinistral. This is unusual; few wish to deal with the Sinistrals. After all, they are known for extreme self-superiority and a desire to kill people with gay abandon. But...

"Speak, then, and we shall evaluate." Daos nods his head. "And let us hope Gades likes what offer you would present us."

Offer? To _them_? What can they want from one man? Gades sneers at the word, but Daos' hand did not drop: He is not authorised to smite that confident little mortal where he stands.

And so, the redhaired man stands his ground and lowers his blade. He shifts it to look over the edge, make sure it's reeeeeeally sharp: This might just be a minor delay to the inevitable after all, who knows. "And do not waste our time." he warns, unnecessarily.

Akuma's eyes turn toward Gades, and as if reading his mind - perhaps he /is/ - the alien notes, "I have come alone as a sign of peace, nothing more. I am a general of an army of Invaders, powerful enough to conquer entire worlds." Nevermind that AEGIS keeps shutting them down, that is just a minor quibble. "And we have other allies from beyond the Gates. Between all of us, there are enough resources available that even you Sinistrals stand to benefit. After all..."

That grin turns malicious, and the Baron notes, "You've had trouble with both the Interplanar League's dogs and the thugs of the Hub crimelords, haven't you?"

A scowl crosses Daos' face. It is not in his nature to admit defeat or weakness; however, the memory of the rout in Vector does hold with him. The IPA had a way of mobilizing more people than the Sinistrals could deal with, and the Syndicate had little love for him either. The god-like being nods his head.

"Perhaps. You suggest an alliance, then?" he asks. He looks once at Gades' sword - wondering if they might need it. "It would do little. Your strength cannot add to ours significantly. Unless, of course, your plans are broader..."

A scowl echoes with the one of Daos, Gades' own pride had suffered at the hands of righeous-speaking mortals AND they did not manage to successfully accomplish their goals last time those damned do-gooders showed up...

The sword is pointed tip down, for now. "I am intrigued, slightly." he admits. Strength is something he can respect, but strength that cannot be used is of no interest to him. How can this army mesh with powers like theirs?

"Indeed," Baron Akuma says, his grin not shrinking in the least. "IPA and Syndicate elites alike are powerful enough that even the combined might of the Invaders would prove relatively little. But..."

The Baron gestures out, beyond the Sinistrals, to the poor humans below. "With proper preparation, we can strike a blow that will stagger even the Inteplanar League! But we will need your help."

The Baron brings his hands forward, clasping them in front of him. "There are individuals held by the dogs of the League - powerful men, whose names are even now a thing of fear in the halls of our enemies. Of course, the humans have them well-guarded. We will require your assistance in creating a diversion great enough to liberate them."

"Hm..." Daos considers this. The proposal is not an offer he would normally accept easily. But, there are advantages - even if they aren't the ones that Baron Akuma would think of (such as new minions to control, and weakening their enemies). The Sinistral nods his head.

"This can be seen to," he says. "It will be a test, though. Alliances must be beneficial and must show themselves to be effective."

His arms cross. "We will test it, and see from there."

Feh, just more meat to send to the grinder to his understanding. But if Lord Daos agrees, then there has to be SOMETHING to this deal that he's not seeing.

Considering this is Gades, this is not new.

"I hope to be impressed then..." mutters the tall man, turning back to look at the game.

A player is then shot with a fingerbeam of sorts. "Resting...tsk tsk."

Baron Akuma is a masterful manipulator and a cunning mastermind; underestimating his ability to predict the source of the Sinistrals' interest may be unwise.

But either way, the Invader General gives no indication of mistrust - at least, any more than is to be expected in a situation such as this. "If you were the sort to commit more firmly," Baron Akuma muses, "you would not be what we need."

He stops, a moment, and then hums. "It appears our business here is concluded, and I must see to matters elsewhere. I shall contact you with more specific details when the time comes. I'm afraid such details don't yet exist - we must wait for the enemy to present the right time to strike."

"Hm. So be it... in that case, we shall be there." Daos nods his head. He would explain to Gades later - after this man was gone, and he had no risk of telepathy being detected. "Contact us when the time is right. You clearly know how."

The Sinistral nods his head, and then glances back at the game. One of the players who had been resting is now writhing in pain. He looks at Gades for a moment.

"Thirty-five yard penalty," he suggests.
