Welcome to Chyenne, Wyoming. On some Earths, it's the home of the US NORTHCOM. In others, there's a Gate here and it's heavily guarded. For two certain Earths, however, it's the home of the RDF Valkyrie Training Center.
Lines of VT-1Ds sit on the flight line, many of them unarmed. There's a small sassault group, but with only a few attacks on Earth by the Zentraedo, who are busy hunting the SDF-1, there just is no need. The cadets are currently on the training fields near the Academy - doing rifle drills. Which are really pretty useless against 40 foot tall aliens, but the United Earth Government thinks that to start the future pilots on the way, then they'll need to be trained as foot soldiers first - a drill that dates back to the days of the Revolutionary War.
As they march and move, other cadets wander the Quadrangle, chatting it up with each other and the opposite sex. They are here on Earth. It's safe. The Zentraedi are millions of miles away.
The so-called 'aliens' from the SDF-1? So much further. Noone has any reason to be here..
...if they only knew.
Hmmmmmmmm. Yes, well. The day's not really that bad! I mean, sure, they're training to fly silly planes against unending hordes of enemies so they can die dramatically or from a lack of proper medical attention, but that's alright! They're having fun NOW, eh?
Still, the fact that Chyenne, Wyoming is the home of the RDF Valkyrie Training Center hasn't escaped the notice of certain of these 'aliens'. Although, really, if you confronted one of them with the fact, he'd be pissed and point out he's as alien as his accuser is.
Regardless, it looks like it's just a normal day, with a normal patrol slowly plodding its way up to the gates of the center. Still...something a bit odd about that there patrol.
Like the fact that their IFF transponders are a little out of date. Nothing much. Just looks like they're out of date by a day or two. Still, maybe they're from another earth and got lost? Or the training command is running a long-range patrol and thus they couldn't get around to updating the IFF codes once they expired? I mean, who else /BUT/ the RDF would have a formation of Spartans, Tomahawks, and Defender Destroids and a captured Glaug in this area?
It's obviously just a friendly RDF training patrol with a completely plausible reason for being here.
Really! It's such a nice day!
The guards at the gates to the training center don't seem to notice. Patrols are always in the area - and the Gulag. It gets some looks - but there was an attack in Denver recently. It could have been captured. Opening the Gates as a troop transport rolls through, the guards start to wave the 'patrol' through.
A group of much more humanoid mecha are currently busying themselves hovering a ways out of the base's radar range. Sorta humanoid, at least. Broad, squat, and fairly large, the greenish-yellow machines stand ominously still, as they wait for the calm, cool decision of when to march on the human encampment from their great, brilliant leader.
"I'LL HAVE YOUR GORBLOCKS FOR THIS!"
Again, sorta. Go'rath, Warleader of the Glorft mecha fleet trapped in the past, is currently having it out with his second in command, known only as "Commander". The legless Gloft cowers away from his master's infamous temper, weakly attempting to add, "B-but sir, it's right on the list! We wait for the human Thompson's signal..."
Go'rath gets very, very quiet...and the tension in the room increases. They're used to the Warleader bellowing...he's /dangerous/ when he gets quiet. "Are you telling me," Go'rath says, softly, "That I need to follow the orders of a /human/, Commander?"
The Commander, normally stoic in the face of the leader's rage, actually wimpers, "N-n-no sir, just, we, um, agree...d..."
Go'rath smiles, suddenly, patting the Commander on the head. "Good! /Now/ that I have reasserted the chain of command, we can wait. Someone get me one of those earther "slushie" things."
Yep. Obviously captured at Denver. Just a captured Glaug. The patrol turns slightly, heading towards the mec---maintenance bays. Huh. That's slightly odd. The Patrol's splitting up a little. The Tomahawks are turning just a bit, as they slowly plod along towards the flight line. But...isn't the maintenance bay for destroids over THERE? Obviously, there must be some confusion. One can imagine that the pilot in charge is cursing at the rookie pilots for their confusion. Why, they're so confused that, of the eight or so Destroids, not counting the Glaugh, two of them are stopped a bit behind the gate guards. It's just a pair of Defenders, while the rest of the patrol is trailing the Glaug as it drifts towards the actual maintenance bays.
For those with an interest in things, the patrol is made up of two Tomahawks, three Spartans, Three Defenders, and a Glaug.
It is NOT made up of two Warhammer IIC Assault Mechs, Three Riflemen Heavy Mechs, Three ARchers, and a Marauder IIC Custom. Nope. Not at all.
Back near where the Glorft are waiting, there is a small command vehicle, the commander in there watching a screen and waiting to give the Glorft the signal. Along with a small extraction force. Just in case.
Well, the guards and such may be buying it -- but the patrol of the Tomahawks are taken note of. Pulling up in a jeep, one of the officers of the base stands their waving his arms. "HEY!" he yells, "THE DETROIDS ARE OVER THERE!" he yells into a megaphone, pointing in the other direction.
And then he pauses. Those unit markings? They aren't anything that's currently stationed on Earth. They had done well to get this far, but this officer happened to know what units were taken on Launch Day - and those markings match up to one of them - Skull Squadron. "Hey, what unit are you in, you lunkheads?!"
Gor'rath is waiting for his slushie. He is not a patient man. Glorft. Whatever. He taps his fingers on his war-mech's console, waiting.
Hmmmm. Well, it would be rude to not tell the nice officer what unit they're with, after all. Or, at least, what affiliation. Which is why, seeing as how the jig may or may not be up, the Glaug pilots taps a button in his cockpit. Immeadiately, a green light flips on in the cockpits of the other 'Destroids'.
Annnnnd, with that, and in perfect unison, war erupts in the formerly peaceful Training Center.
The Glaug fires first, azure bolts cracking out and into the Destroid maintenance center, followed a moment later by the sound of the sound barrier being shattered by a large hunk of metal accelerating past the sound barrier and slamming into something large and expensive looking inside.
The pair of Defenders drop their arms, targetting the Gate guards, yard long shells chattering out as autocannon fire rips at point blank range into the unsuspecting guards (If they're in mechs) and guardposts (If they're not). The rest of the patrol split their fire, with the three Spartans popping open missile bays, flights of missiles arcing out and peppering the repair bay and the Veritech facilities, while the Tomahawks and the Last Defender open up on the waiting Veritechs, azure PPC bolts from the 'Tomahawks' barking out to slag some, along with laser fire, while the Defender just calmly rakes maintenance area for the Veritechs in heavy autocannon fire.
Meanwhile, back at the Glorft...
A large slushie sits on a truck bed, glistening welcomingly in the afternoon sun, just begging for its cool, sugary, icy goodness to be drunk. Which is when a power-armored figure runs out of the command vehicle, an amplified voice calling up to the waiting Glorft commander, even as explosions and cannon fire start to rumble in the near distance.
"Sir! Captain Thompson just sent the signal! You're on!"
And it was such a /nice/ day.
There it is. His one indulgence, his one admission that the great Glorft legions might not be getting home while Cook Kaplowski has the Prototype, the one thing that made his stay in this barbaric time...tolerable, sometimes. A strawberry slushie. Gor'rath almost smiles, reaching down with his terrible claw to pick the drink up, and bringing the straw to his lips...
"Sir! Captain Thompson just sent the signal! You're on!"
Being an old soldier, Gor'rath's reaction is instinctual-his claw closes into a vice like grip, which procedes to sent delicious pink slushie all over his face, neck, and torso. His left eye twitches, slightly, but Gor'rath knows an Earther delicacy, even a slushie, cannot be worth harming his commander for. Such would be seen as a sign of weakness, of insanity...
He punches the Commander in the face anyway. "Ass. GLORFT! WE RIDE!"
A terrible VROOOOOOM, like some kind of pack of space bikers fills the air, as a dozen of the lime green death machines burst out of their cloaking capes and a nearby forest, roaring through the air and charging towards the base. "Earthers, your time is over! So swears Gor'rath, warleader of the mighty Glorft empire!" The despot cackles, already beginning the delicate process of aiming all of those guns at targets. "Soldiers! Burn the place to the ground!"
The VTC.. wasn't ready. As the 'friendly' units open fire, pandomoneum and panic shake the base to it's very command. "What do you mean we're under attack?!"
"Sir, it's our own units and an Officer's Pod!"
"What, Zentraedi?!"
"No sir, suspect Anti-Unification forces!"
"Get Alaska Base on the horn, tell them what's going on!"
Alarms blare around the base as a few pilot cadets, mainly upperclassmen, try to make it to the Veritech flightline, while most of the others are trying to head for the shelters.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Asteroid Belt. Roy's chaingun rattles, splattering an EVA unit with red paint. "Come on, Toji, you gotta keep on your toes!" the Commander of the Black Sheep calls out to one of his younger pilots. Twisting the Super Veritech into the Asteroid Field, just as the external radios start to bark at him on the attack back on Earth.
The pilot stares blankly at his radio for a moment, then, starts to curse. "Come on, we got to get to Earth, NOW!" he yells at the other pilot, before converting Skull One to fighter to rocket towards the blue planet in the distance.
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Roy Fokker cussing vividly. "The Valkyrie Training Center on Earth is under attack. Going to respond!"
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Amuro Ray says, "-Good luck, sir! Be safe out there! We're in a briefing meeting, I can't get away..."
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Toji Suzuhara says, "/Finally/, something happens when I'm on stand-by."
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Toji Suzuhara rapid footsteps.
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "Hey, Fokker."
[Citizen's Band] Roy Fokker rocketting noises. "Busy, Thompson."
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "Ah, I'll just talk to you later then. Oooooh, no you don't, you stay OFF the flightline. *KA-KRACK*"
[Citizen's Band] Roy Fokker says, "..."
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "By the way, Fokker?"
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "I'm in your base."
[Citizen's Band] Roy Fokker says, "You son of a /b*static of re-entry*"
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Toji Suzuhara ka-chak. "Unit 03, launching!" *WHOOSH*
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Shinji Ikari um. "Good luck, Toji..."
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Roy Fokker says, "Alright, Toji, welcome aboard. I can't believe this bastard!"
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Toji Suzuhara says, "I can't believe they didn't wait 'til I was asleep or something again!"
[Citizen's Band] Koyori Kokubunji | Posokichi speaks in a small, eerie voice, "Forty to one odds in favor of Thompson~... Betting is now open~..."
Toji Suzuhara, meanwhile, is covered in red paint. Or his EVA is, anyway. Fact of the matter is, EVA is very bad at space combat, and Roy just proved the point. When the alarm comes, it's actually a bit of a relief. Unit 3 bounces from rock to rock a bit to keep its propellant use down...then jettisons two small metallic packages (maneuvering verniers which it won't be needing anymore) from its legs, before engaging the boosters strapped to its back for space travel. With a loud roar (in the cockpit anyway, because there is no sound in space), Toji is sent hurtling after Roy.
He doesn't have a fancy transforming machine, so he'll have to improvise some way of getting back down. AT Field, perhaps?
Vincent snorts in amusement at his radio, whipping the Glaug around and pumping a Gauss rifle round through the head of a cadet's veritech as the battleoid attempts to fight back. He's done a /little/ research. The cockpit's in the torso, really. But unless you're an ace pilot, well...losing all those sensors has got to suck. The Glaug has left the rampaging through the rest of support facilities to his subordinates, stalking towards the flight line. Really, the upperclassmen are, well, out-classed here. I mean, granted, if they had had time to get organized, they might be able to put up a fight, but, well...Vincent's Vanguards are a rough, nasty unit with way more experience than them, they're in the middle of the base already, and each mech individually and heavily outguns a veritech and most destroids, really. The Marauder alone...Well, the damage gets expo-freakin'-nential. So, yeah. The flight line is getting heavily bombarded. One or two might get away, or get airborne, but it prolly won't be unscathed if Thompson has anything to say about it. STILL. He figures he might as well pass the warning to the Glorft that reinforcements are incoming.
"Oy, Gor'Rath. Figured you'd want to know. Reinforcements incomin'. Keep an eye up. ANd don't target the shelters. Can't spread terror if there aren't any survivors, y'know."
...Or it could be that weirdass sense of Mechwarrior honor that Vincent's got, and the fact that he doesn't see this as anything more than long-delayed payback for Fokker usin' a tac-nuke equivalent in a fight. He isn't interested in casualties, he's interested in property damage!
Of which there is prolly a lot of by now. Smoke, fires, all the fun things you get when battlemechs start having a party in someone else's base with their doodz.
The Glorft Warlord thinks over Thompson's words for a moment; his Glorft troopers attack in a rough V formation, taking advantage of suprise to use heavy laser-based weaponry to try and take down the gate and any forward defensive measures. Laser turrets, tanks, that sort of thing. Gor'rath's command mecha hovers by itself for a moment, as if the Warleader was pondering the secrets of the universe.
Instead, Gor'rath presses the, "Unnessicarily Large Missle" button. His mecha raises its right hand, which twists open to reveal a missle that seems to be really a little larger than a machine that size would strictly need to be equipped with. He then procedes to aim it at what looks like, to him, a shelter, and fires said missle. Following the laws of "physics", it is a little slow as well as being REALLY BIG, so Roy or Toji could be able to intercept it if they are clever enough.
Gor'rath's point, however, should be made. "We are allies, Earther. But I do /not/ take orders from you. Forget that at your peril!" The Glorft Warleader then roars, charging head-first into battle with the enemy!
You will now hear messages on channel [Public].
...Is that...a giant bowl of ice cream? Hovering in space? Why yes. Yes it is. There is a bowl of assorted ice cream flavors large enough to look like it can go with any of the giant robots stomping around the space-island down there. And on it, clothed entirely in black synthetic fibers resembling leather, with a black cape, and a stylized helmet that shows her face but still provides air, is the Magical Maid. She raises her wand, which is currently in the shape of a red-bladed beam sword, and points it at the battlefield below. Posokichi is in no costume, and still clings to her arm in empty space. It does not seem to be affected by DEEP SPACE.
"Giant robots!" HOOOH-HAAAAH~ "How quaint!" HOOOH-HAAAAH~ "Let's watch the fun, Posokichi~!" HOOOH-HAAAAH~ ... She glances down briefly, smacking the breather pack on her middle. HOOOH-HAAAAH~ "...Blast, this thing sure is noisy." HOOOH-HAAAAH~. Of note, it's also making her sound like a female James Earl Jones.
On her shoulder, Posokichi watches the Battlemechs and Veritech fighters intently. In a quiet, eerie voice, it states, "Forty-to-one odds, Vincent Thompson to win~. Betting is now open~."
Roy hits the atmosphere hard, sealing up Skull One as he turns the fighter towards a vector to put him over Wyoming as he punches up the Satellite view, and scowls at what he sees.
These pilots aren't ready for war. At most, one of them has had 20 hours of simulator and regular flight time. And they are being torn apart by the attacking forces. And those few that have gotten skywards aren't up for the challenge either. A few move to intercept the new forces that arrived, but one of them is lanced through, the pilot ejecting as the plane tumbles towards the ground.
Flaring the engines, Roy transforms into the Veritech's Guardian mode, slinging the rifle out, and turns it upon the Rifleman. "Hey, Thompson! Guess who's back?" he calls out as he opens fire with the rifle, aiming to hole the Battlemech through and get their asses out of the base!
You switch armor modes to Super Guardian.
You hit Vincent Thompson with your You want me, you got me! jab.
The Magical Maid and her eerie bookiee do not get involved in the battle. Rather, they hover at a decidedly unsafe distance. Now that they're in an atmosphere, Koyori has disposed of that silly breathing device that changed her voice and exaggerated her breathing sounds.
Posokichi appears to be holding a video camera.
Toji Suzuhara turns around as Unit 03 continues towards the Earth; the booster pods split open to reveal a Gundam-style ballute pack, which manages to protect the machine from re-entry.
The final pieces of the 'pods' break away to reveal parachutes once it's actually in the atmosphere, slowing the Evangelion's descent until it reaches a reasonable altitude...at which point the parachutes break away, and Toji drops like the proverbial rock. Quite by cooincidence, his machine's feet literally /slam/ into the missile and grind it into the ground as it hits the ground with a gigantic cracking sound. It even creates a small crater from the force of the blow.
"Wooo...man, I hate the space equipment. Why am I seein' double?"
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Roy Fokker says, "You okay, Toji?"
...Well, Vincent was WONDERING when the wunderpilot would show up! Fokker pops down from above, spitting cannony death at one of his Riflemen. Hmmmmm. Vincent's going to HAVE to work with that. I mean, the cannon fire lances down, spitting fire at the Rifleman, and the pilot cranks his mech's torso and arms back, trying to bring Fokker in range...annnnd then is knocked off his feet by the heavy caliber bullets. See...he managed to slip in a Veritech, sending the Rifleman crashing to the ground. Vincent tsks, then grins cheerfully as he decides to get Fokker's attention.
"All Archers! Target Alpha! Hit that LAM with everything you've got!"
A trio of affirmatives crackle over the radio, as Vincent's mechs leave off on peppering the facilities and turn towards Fokker. If he's paying attention, a moment later there's prolly a whoooole lotta that annoying 'Missile Lock!' warning showing up, all three Archers launching a full ripple of LRMs at the fast moving veritech. Granted, many will prolly lose lock, but that's still around a hundred and twenty missiles arcing up.
Vincent loves LRM-20's. He really does. Asides, they look cool, and isn't THAT what giant mech combat is all about?
"Fokker! I was wondering when you'd show up! Good to see you! Now, please die so I can have my unit insignia to myself, please!"
Vincent Thompson critically strikes Roy Fokker with his LRM-20 Barrage! attack.
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Toji Suzuhara says, "Ugh. I'm fine, I'm fine."
"Commander."
"Yes, Warleader?"
"Did that skinny black robot just step on my missle?"
"I...I believe it did, Warleader."
"I see." Gor'rath pauses for a moment, and calmly presses a button. Five Glorft gumby ships pause mid-savage beatdown to fly back to Gor'rath's mech, the ships twisting around mid-air to attach to the main mecha. In a few seconds, the merger operation is complete, and Gor'rath's robot is suddenly EVA sized.
"Commander, take charge of assisting Thompson's unit. I am going to find something equivelent to jorblocks on that Earther robot and TEAR THEM OFF WITH MY BARE HANDS!" The massive alien mecha leaps into the air, landing by Unit-03 with a SLAM, the speakers saying, "You! Earther! I would know the name of the one who DARES challange Gor'rath, Warleader of the Glorft!" before attempting to punch Toji in the base.
The Glorft Commander quietly hails Thompson's second in command. "Does...does yours do this sort of thing all that often as well?" He murmurs, looking a little ill.
Peleps Kaizoku Seki gets a glancing blow on Toji Suzuhara with his Round 2, faitoo! jab.
[Y-Black Sheep Squadron] Roy Fokker says, "Alright, our primary objective is to let the cadets get clear of this place - I don't want a wholesale slaughter!"
Posokichi lowers its little camera for a moment, pausing recording and rewinding. The shot of a Rifleman slipping on a Valkyrie is replayed on the camera's miniscreen, this time with added cartoon sound effects. The Magical Maid nods approvingly. "Excellent work, my sweet little Posokichi~." With such praise, the little beastie goes back to recording the battle.
Roy's a little busy at the moment. As he fires the autocannon, he leaps back skywards, radioing to the other Veritechs that made it into the sky. "Cadets, this is Commander Fokker of the SDF-1. Get out of here, bearing 224 mark one!" he barks out. Just as his radar blips a warning at him. "Crap!" he curses, unwilling to hard shake them.. because they'll lock on to something else besides him.
Triggering his own missiles, Roy dives into the mess, explosions of the missiles slamming into each other - and doing a major number to him as well. The pilot growls beneath his breath as he pushes himself through the firestorm, one paticular hard blast causing him to his head to smack against the console.
"Toji, we have to get the cadets cleared!" he yells out over the radio as he switches to Battloid, landing on the flightline, and goes to fire at the Marauder -- that is, until he realized he hadn't quite cycled out all of the autocannon rounds - instead of DU rounds - red paintball rounds splatter against the cockpit.. hopefully enough to blind Thompson.
You switch armor modes to Super Battloid.
You miss Vincent Thompson with your PAINTED! stun.
You successfully target Vincent Thompson with your Splatter Splatter Splatter action.
Toji Suzuhara blinks away his sudden headache, whirling Unit 03 around to face the new challenger. The massive black machine folds its arms over its chest, as its pilot responds to the challenge: "Toji Suzuhara of NERV. And you're going...oof!"
Dammit, how many times is he going to get punched in the face anyway? That seems to tear it, Toji's /angry/ now. And when he's angry, his EVA tends to rip things. Case in point: the machine attempts to grab the arm of Gor'rath's mecha before he can pull it back, using it as leverage to /yank/ the alien machine towards it...and then, quite simply, driving its forehead into the Glorft's face.
Toji Suzuhara gets a glancing blow on Peleps Kaizoku Seki with his Brawling jab.
...Oh, you've GOT to be kidding. Vincent twitches as he watches red splotches of paint spatter against him...and then shrugs. He's got a closed cockpit ANYWAYS. He's using a HUD, so the paint...really doesn't do anything but ruin his paintjob. Which...is annoying. INFURIATING. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO GET AN AWESOME PAINTJOB, FOKKER? DO YOU?
Vincent twitches once again, then cranks his mech back, simply attempting to snag a hardlock on Fokker...and then triggers the gauss rifle. DODGE THAT, FOKKER! DODGE THAT!
...or not. Vincent would prefer if you didn't. It is sadness when gauss rifles are dodged. Which is why Vincent is hoping that it is not dodged, so he can be happy! Yayyyy, Happy Marauder Dance! WHich, oddly, looks very similar to the 'Shoot Roy With A Freaking Gauss RIfle' dance.
And, while the commanders are slugging it out, Vincent's Second in Command, back in the Mobile HQ, calmly answers the slightly nervous radio message from the Glorft sub-commander. "...No, I haven't observed Captain Thompson doing anything like that yet. Seen footage of a couple of other things doing that, though, which is...annoyin'. The Captain hates it when things refuse to fall over and explode like they should."
Vincent Thompson hits Roy Fokker with his DON'T MESS WITH MY PAINTJOB! attack.
"What the-" WHAM! That's the sound of a giant head slamming into, well, a giant head. Gor'rath pulls back, shocked that something so, well, thin could be so strong! "Impressive, earther..." Gor'rath mutters, using his mech's hand to whipe it's "face" off, sparks flying liberarly.
"But not enough to stop the Glorft!" He loves these lines. Seriously, has a whole book of them. But what Toji might want to worry about is the fact that the hand of that held arm detaches, letting Gor'rath get free and pull back briefly, a new hand coming out of the arm-hole and pumping its action like some kind of shotgun. Now, why would Toji care about a spare hand?
Because it explodes, see.
Peleps Kaizoku Seki critically strikes Toji Suzuhara with his Here Comes The Boom attack.
"Wow, this is getting vicious." Koyori comments lightly. She raises her lightsaber straight up, swinging it down in a clockwise arc. As the blade passes over her, her outfit reverts to the classic outfit of the Magical Maid. At once, the laser sword smokepoofs into her wand. With a tap, the wand becomes shorter, and she starts chattering into the bauble at the end like a microphone.
"The Glorft warleader lands a vicious strike on the newcomer from down under~! Is that even legal? Oooh~! I think it is~!"
The Veritech pilot keeps one eye on the Cadets - one on Toji, who gets a wince as the Glorft gets a good shot on him. Unfortunately, Roy only has two eyes - so he only hears the cannon fire too late. Jerking back on the controls, Roy twists Skull One around, just enough for the left FAST pack to take the brunt of the shot, ripping the missile launcher to shreds.
Snarling, Roy finally cycles in regular cannon rounds, and leaping upwards, he reconverts to Guardian mode. Screeching through the midsts of the enemy mecha, he attempts to close the distance, fingers dancing over the missile launcher, before he starts to fire, missiles dropping from leg and arm ports as he gets back on the point. "Come on, Thompson, it's time for you to go!"
You switch armor modes to Super Guardian.
You critically strike Vincent Thompson with your Missiles Away~ attack.
Toji Suzuhara blinks. "What the--"
*KABOOM*
The explosion sends the EVA reeling, and it falls flat on its metal-plated butt. However, this has the side benefit of placing it near the wreckage of a Valkyrie....and Toji happens to notice a gunpod lying loose on the runway. He grins devilishly as the EVA reaches over, and in one smooth motion grabs the discarded GU-11, raises it, and fires.
Roy may find this a little comical-looking, because in EVA-03's hands the large rifle looks more like a small pistol.
Toji Suzuhara critically strikes Peleps Kaizoku Seki with his No More, Optimus Prime! attack.
Vincent's Marauder is peppered with missile shots, causing it to shy away from the impact, a PPC burst slashing
skywards, off target. Still, the problem is that Fokker's not just picking a fight with Thompson today! Thompson brought his FRIENDS, too! Mwhahahah! As such, the Riflemen, who are NOT being targetted at the moment, crank their torsos around, tracking Fokker...and then, hopefully, bracketing between three different volleys of anti-air fire, autocannon rounds snapping angrily, tracers burning brilliantly in the smoke. Vincent is grumbling about repair bills as he attempts to relock onto Fokker in time to join in for the next volley~
"Hmmm, I dunno, Fokker. I'm enjoying my little vacation right here, y'know! I think YOU should go, instead!"
Vincent Thompson gets a glancing blow on Roy Fokker with his Tracah FIIIIIAAAAAAAAH attack.
It does look kind of comical. "Are you going to /hurt me/ with that little toy, Suzuhara?! Ha! I-" Wham wham wham wham wham! The Glorft Ultramech is shoved back by the sheer force of Toji's firepower, sparks flying wildly as he manages to hit /two/ critical matter compression chambers in the same round of fire! "Luck..." Gor'rath snarls, pulling back, "Why do I always meet the /lucky ones/..."
The shoulders of the Glorft mecha pop open with a hiss, as Gor'rath fakes left and right, moving in a way that Toji might find similar to playing basketball. When he thinks the Earther properly confused, Gor'rath's missle silos open fire, sending a dozen mini-missles screaming towards Unit-03! "You'll never defeat me, boy! Give up!"
Peleps Kaizoku Seki hits Toji Suzuhara with his The Ol'Rope-A-Dope attack.
Finding himself triangulated, Roy cusses, converting into Battloid mode, and grabs his auto-cannon. One the ground nearby is another GU-11. Picking them up, the pilot looks around at his targets, as he gets littered with cannon fire, blackening and damaging his armor.
And for the first time since coming through the Gates, the pilot realizes he could be in real trouble here. Spreading the autocannon fire out, Roy twists on one of the Riflemen and opens fire, both tri-barrels blazing as he opens fire on the first of the fake Excaliburs. "Toji, how're you holding up?"
You hit Vincent Thompson with your Fokker's Last Stand? attack.
"Suzuhara fights back with a toy rifle, it's a hit!" Koyori shouts excitedly. Posokichi waves a little flag with the Eva-03's face on it, crossed off like a No-Smoking sign. "The Glorft Warleader fights back by-" And she starts dancing in place on the rim of her giant ice cream bowl, "-Doing a little dance~, Makin' a little love, Gettin; MISSILES tonight! Oh yeha, gettin' Missiles Tonight bay-beh~."
Composing herself, the Magical Maid then states, "Meanwhile, our crowd favorite tonight is taking that Fokker loser to town!" Posokichi now waves a little flag with the Vincent's Vanguards logo on it, and a big Thumbs-Up next to it. "Can Fokker pull out a from-behind win?" Koyori grins, "I hope not~!"
Toji Suzuhara hates fake-outs, especially at a distance. Grr. So he gets pelted with missiles, which punch craters into the Evangelion's chest armor as it rises to its feet."Had better days, but I'm on it!" Response out of the way, Unit 03 raises its arms...and then begins to sprint towards the Glorft machine with its hands held up like claws. "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
When he gets to melee range, assuming he's not stopped somehow, Unit 03's hands shoot out to grab the Glorft machine by the shoulders and twist it aside, attempting to ruthlessly shove it into the ground. It's kind of amusing, actually, that even in a giant robot Toji still tends to fight like he's brawling in a back alley somewhere.
Toji Suzuhara stuns Peleps Kaizoku Seki with his Get Over There! action.
Hmmm. Well, that's no good. Sigh. That's the problem with heroes. They always get so freaking lucky. One of the Riflemen is pitched over, GU-11 shells slamming into its torso and shattering the gyro there. Goddammit, VIncent HATES Gyro hits. Ah well. Could be worse. Could be him. Still, he figures he should give Fokker a LITTLE surprise. Keep him on his toes.
Which is why the Marauder lunges forwards, a small crackling heard from one of the arms as...instead of opening fire with a large laser, Vincent attempts to shank Roy in the back with a beam saber.
Yeah. Someone's been modifying his Marauder again. Time to see if it works! And as for Roy feeling in trouble, well, that's fine with Vincent! It really is!
Specially as, well...see...the other mechs all turn on Roy as Vincent goes for the backstab. Which means a hail of laser fire, precisely targetted, goes rocketing towards Roy's mech as Vincent (HOpefully) pins it in place with the Beam Bayonet. The hail of lasery and gunny destruction, assuming that Roy's been unfortunate enough to not avoid it, is finished off with Vincent attempting to smack that damn fancy Veritech's head off with his other hand. No fancy weapons, just a multiton limb going 'WHAP! BAD FOKKER!'
Vincent Thompson juggles Roy Fokker with his Vanguard Blitz combo.
Roy Fokker breaks Vincent Thompson's combo.
"Holy shi--!" Roy jerks back on the throttle, flaring all of the engines to life as the beam bayonet tears through the shoulder. The Veritech pilot is jostled around, the left side of his face already bruised up from an earlier shot he took. He fights to keep his eye open as he flares the enines and then... charges?!
He charges in on the Marauder, Roy transforms the Veritech into it's Battloid mode and leaps straight up. As he does so, he flips upside down, bringing the rifle down, and opens fire on the top of the Marauder and continues the twist and flip as he inverts and lands on the other side of the Marauder. One GU-11 continues to pump rounds into the Marauder as the other twists to fire on the other Rifleman, attempting to hole it through.
You juggle Vincent Thompson with your Fokker's Feint! combo.

Vincent Thompson breaks your combo.
Toji Suzuhara sets upon his fallen foe pretty much instantly. He jabs a foot into the alien machine's back (or stomach, whichever end is up), reaching down to grab it by the forearm (not the wrist, he learned his lesson)...and then he begins to yank, hard, using both hands for additional pull. Is he trying to dismember the Glorft? Apparently so.
Toji Suzuhara critically strikes Peleps Kaizoku Seki with his Farewell to Arms? attack.
Peleps Kaizoku Seki is no longer stunned.
Now it really looks like the bad guys are losing. Koyori frowns. After a brief conversation into her wand-mic that isn't broadcast, she taps it twice to turn it back into her magical featherduster. The flying dessert floats over to the base control tower, setting down on the roof. "Magical Featherduster! IKIMASU~!"
The gemstone at the head of the staff erupts into ... a featherduster. Koyori raises this and starts shaking it, scattering sparkles all across the roof of the building which rain down the sides. After a few moments, there's an eerie rumble. A roof hatch opens, and animated wiring yanks the Magical Maid into the building with a surprised shriek. She shrieks and squeals frightfully inside for several moments. Once she falls silent, the entire command tower uproots itself and - In a drawn out sequence - transforms into a giant battle robot. Arms sprout from either side, composed of the base's underground monorail. Two discarded GU-11 rifles are picked up and combined into one double-barreled varient. The roof of the building slides down to become a shield, and a giant robot head emerges where it was.
In the chest, the windows turn clear, and Koyori is ... uh ... plastered against the glass in a Zeon-style pilot's uniform. Posokichi, oddly enough, is dressed as an officer complete with a little hat. It's gonna take a minute for her to peel herself off the windshield...
Koyori Kokubunji switches armor modes to Giant Monster.
...that...
...That's a pretty good feint. Yeaaah. Vincent has time to unknowingly echo Roy, really. "HOLY SHI-" and then ow ow ow red too much red so much freakin' red on his rear armor oh dear god internal ammo damage. There's a rumble, and then the gauss ammo manages to cook off. This is BAD. Vincent's mech is equipped with CASE, which normally contains ammo explosions. The CASE, however, is jammed by a shot that smashes down through his armor. Thus...the CASE does not activate and contain the explosion. There's a low rumble, and Vincent's mech rocks to the side as the left shoulder explodes outwards, the left arm hanging low to the ground. Vincent sighs, and spits a curse as he realizes he got off lucky.
See, the Rifleman is /cored/. Fokker's shot blasts through it, blowing out the autocannon shell in the chest and ripping the gyro to shreds. The Rifleman flails, ammo from the right arm shooting off randomly as the pilot convulsively squeezes the trigger, his mech toppling over and slamming into the ground, afore lying there, a bit of smoke curling up from its back. Still, he's lucky. His CASE worked well enough, and it only shredded part of his torso...and didn't cook off his entire reactor.
Vincent swears, and then sighs, radio crackling.
"We're outta here, Vanguards. The Crazy Bitch doesn't pay us enough to die for her damn cause. Recovery, might need a Savannah Master for Masterson over there."
Grumbling, Vincent sighs, crackling a seperate transaction at Fokker. "Not bad, Fokker. We'll have to tango some other time. Guess I'll let you keep those Skull markings for now, but...I'm outta here. Karn doesn't pay me enough to die, and I figure we're even now, anyways. We'll settle who gets to be the Skull next time."
And, with that, Vincent turns and starts to limp off away from the base. Still, any thoughts on taking pot shots are Firmly Discourage by the remaining mechs, namely, the Warhammer IICs, the Archers, and the last Rifleman all locking step and slowly backing up, covering Vincent's retreat, a small, speedy armored convoy zipping forwards. It's made up of a small hovercraft and a couple of VERY large trucks, which skew to the side, robotic arms grappling the downed Riflemen and yanking them onto the large flatbeds on the back, while the hovercraft blurs forwards, skewing to a halt as a couple of power-armored troops leap down, prying open the downed Rifleman and hauling the pilot out before his mech is 'salvaged', then the entire column bugs out, Vincent's surviving mechs keeping Fokker or any cadets from getting /ideas/!
[Citizen's Band] Roy Fokker says, "And don't come back here Yankee, but if you ever do, bring more money, because all she wants to do is dance~~"
[Citizen's Band] Roy Fokker is singing. BADLY.
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "Eh, next time, Fokker, Next Time!"
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "Insert Contracturally Required Revenge Promising Rant of your choice."
"Graaaaarrrrggggghhhh!" Gor'rath yells! He does not have the same problem as if, say, Toji's Unit-03 had its arm ripped off, but it's /embarrasing/, and the arm's subsiquent destruction means he's lost /another/ loyal Glorft warrior to the filthy Earthers. "You haven't beaten me yet, boy!" The Glorft commander insists...
...and then, showing that Gor'rath may be more literal minded than he'd like to admit, the Glorft supermech's "armpit" procedes to shine with a charge of energy, firing a heavy laser blast up at Unit-03's optics! Gor'rath needs the distraction to get out from under Toji, after all.
[RADIO] To Roy Fokker, Agrias Oaks radios: "Help..." Her voice sounds thin; drawn. "Help me... in the caverns... beneath Orbonne... southern Ivalice... ambushed... safe for now..." A wet-sounding cough. "Bring... bring medical supplies..."
Peleps Kaizoku Seki hits Toji Suzuhara with his Yeah, yeah he needs to invest in some deodorant attack.
[Citizen's Band] Vincent Thompson says, "God, I want a drink."
Cheynne, Wyoming. The Valkyrie Training Center for the RDF. It's up in smoke and flames at the moment. Several Veritechs are crushed and burning on the tarmac, or in fields nearby. At the moment, several mecha are withdrawing. Roy is standing on the tarmac, a GU-11 held in each hand, watching the retreat.
Then he stares at the Magical Girl as she becomes a giant robot as well.
"God, I want a drink."
And that's when his radio goes off. And he stares blankly at it as a Veritech nearby explodes, the pilot answers his radio over warning chirps, then starts to issue orders.
"Toji, we've got them hammered, but I'm bringing in some support, I'm getting a distress call I need to answer!" he calls out to the Eva pilot. And then he punches up the Black Sheep frequency. "Anyone able to respond, Thompson brought in reinforcement, and I have to withdrawl. Who's on deck?"
[RADIO] To Agrias Oaks, you radio: Agrias? I'll be right there! Five minutes, Agrias. I'll be there in five minutes.
[RADIO] To Roy Fokker, Agrias Oaks radios: Soft sound; an exhalation, a sigh? "Thank..." Several seconds of silence. "Thank you..."
It takes some effort for the Magical Maid to pry herself off the windshield of her makeshift robot. She flumps in ... an easy chair. And rams her wand into the armrest where it becomes a joystick. Posokichi resumes its usual position, clinging to her upper arm and staring blankly into space like a good mascot.
"Alright! Now I'm ready to-!" blink. "...Where'd everyone go?!" The 'robot's' head turns this way and that, searching for the Mechwarriors that it'd arrived to help. There's that freaky warlord with the psycho eva, but ... "Hey!" Koyori shouts angrily at the retreating mercenaries, "After I went through all this trouble, you're running away?!"
The command tower robot tucks its gun into its 'shield' and chases after the Vanguards, waving its free hand overhead and shouting over loudspeakers, "Hey! Wait for me!"
...god, what a ditz.
[RADIO] To Roy Fokker, Agrias Oaks radios: Several more seconds of quiet. Almost frighteningly quiet. "So tired..." Seconds tick by. "Down underground... first basement, north wall... hidden passage... catacombs... deep down, I... found a place to hide... Inquisitors everywhere... demon... dan... dangerous... please, be... be careful..."
"Acknowledged." Rei's voice is rather easy to remember.
The next comment may be relief or worry. "Deployment in 110 seconds."
In the Geofront, Rei steps from the standby area and into EVA-00's entry plug as the startup sequence operates. This takes some time and is inherently unpredictable, and as such, they deploy the equipment system first.
In practical terms, this means that -this moment- -- or very close to it -- a large squarish box, like several tractor-trailors lashed together, appears from the most proximate Gate to the situation.
EVA-00 follows it about thirty seconds later. The armored plating over the left arm's shoulder area still looks somewhat temporary, more like a thick swaddling than the usual sleek plate.
--The giant flying ice cream bowl, by the way, floats along after the 'mecha' containing its owner, just to tie up that loose end.
[RADIO] To Roy Fokker, Agrias Oaks radios: "Not... dying..." Another wet cough. "Lost... a lot of blood... dizzy."
Toji Suzuhara gets shot in the face, and stumbles away accordingly. "Owowowowowow..."
Friggin' synch rate. At least with Unit 03 it's hard to tell how badly its burned, because it's mostly black. Unfortunately, the stumbling gives Gor'rath an opportunity to get up....but Toji isn't about to give him a chance to set up for another attack, and right now he's just about spitting blood. So, the EVA's massive hand curls into a fist...and then it goes flying for the Glorft's face in a quick right hook. "Get lost already, wouldja?!" I mean, his friends already ran off...what is this guy, stubborn?
[RADIO] To Agrias Oaks, you radio: I'm the only one allowed to make you swoon, Agiras Oaks.
Toji Suzuhara critically strikes Peleps Kaizoku Seki with his Ker-Punch attack.
[RADIO] To Roy Fokker, Agrias Oaks radios: Weak laughter. "Heh... heheh. Aye... lover..."
And with Agrias's voice in his ears, Roy frowns. She needs the help more than the cadets who are more than cleared now, do. "Toji, Rei's on her way, I need to get over to Ivalice to assist."
The pilot turns, converting the Veritech to fighter mode, then lurches the wounded bird skywards.
