Sci-Fi Sector - Deep Space 9
Deep Space Nine is not your average Federation border outpost. Though it's located deep within the Denorios belt, some distance away from the inhabited world of Bajor, the space station is bustling nevertheless. The reason for this is apparent--the only stable wormhole in Federation space exists nearby, offering transit to the Gamma Quadrant. It lies just beyond the station, a small glowing tear in the fabric of reality.
The station itself is not of human design. From the outside, it looks like a massive wheel; the control and engineering sectors exist within a spire in the middle, while the residential sectors and docks occupy the wheel proper. Three large spires extend from the edge of the superstructure in both directions. Inside, the station can best be described as 'busy'. Merchants, traders, and diplomats do business here, under the watchful eyes of the Bajorans and the Federation.
It's been a while, hasn't it. Sure, Utonium and Frizzle have talked a lot over the phone since that first kiss, they have had precious little time together, what with the start of school and projects galore keeping them apart. Finally, Utonium clawed a hole in his schedule for Valerie, and hoped she would have the same when he asked to meet him for drinks..
..of course, they can never just do a normal night at a restaurant in Townsville -- so he sent her a Gate address and coordinates as a game. Let's see if she can find the smart dressed man at the bar in Deep Space Nine, sitting at a table as old Square-Jaw waits for the woman he's come to care for.
The place is packed, the lighting dim, the low sounds of small talk and info being past around. The bartender nods to the professor, a signal to see if he wanted anything while he waits. Others flank his sides; being a space station, there be many species here.
Walking in slowly, gliding almost, high-heeled pumps click along the floor. Some stray eyes watch the figure pass by them, red hair up in an elegant manner, the deep red-orange of off-the-shoulder dress dragging not heavily, but fluttering at the hem. Her lips curl into a semi-innocent smile as she spots the man she hasn't seen in the longest. No words come from the Friz just yet as she continues her way towards the bar, bracelets clinking.
She sure does make an entrance for herself.
Utonium had been holding off on ordering a drink. He was waiting for Frizzle to show up. Maybe he should have been more blunt in his directions as he places his order. "Club soda." The heavy stuff can wait, really. And as he sits and stares into outer space, he almost misses the grand entrance.
Fortunately, fate intervenes as the professor finds himself watching a runabout passing by the viewing area, and turns to follow it's trek across the station.. this quickly ends, however. That red orange hair is undenyable. And Professor Utonium takes this time to drink in every ounce of the woman as she approaches. From the silky white skin, down the dress, past the bracelets, and down to the pumps. And then his eyes make the trip back up again. Even in his classic black suit and tie -- there is no hiding the look on his face in his eyes.
Awestruck. Frizzle so has him lock, stock, and barrel. It has been entirely too long since the two have seen each other. Even his thirst is forgotten as he rises to his feet to greet the woman.
But his are not the only eyes on the teacher. Other sets, who had seen her strange method of transportation, are following her as well. Uh-oh.
Like the Emmy fasion specialist say: 'Bold color! Close-fitting dresses! Summer CHIC!' She even has a matching clutch purse. Whatever. Ms. Frizzle chuckles, her strangely-shaped earrings swaying back and forth. "Long time, no see," she says coyly, even if she doesn't look it. She's a teacher, and she's hawt.
*ahem* "Being busy isn't much fun, is it?" She looks at the Professor, eyes smiling. As they proceed into conversation, a few more strangers come up behind the guy, swaggering their way down the street as if they owned it.
Much fun, indeed.
"Long time, no see, indeed." Utonium responds, and meets her eyes, grinning back at her. Apparently, she's making him work for it tonight. And after nearly two months apart -- he caves. One arm reaches out to pull in Valerie, the other quickly joining in to pull her close. "No, Valerie, but you know what they say.. all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
Okay, so his name's not Jack, either. But Jack only gets Jill, he doesn't get to liplock with the absolutely drop dead gorgeous woman in Utonium's arms. You should drop dead from envy, Jack.. or let Envy kill you. No showing up, Envy. Point made, he's trying to make up for two months of missing contact in a single kiss.
This is when the men arrive at the bar, laying eyes.. lots of eyes.. on the couple that is being reunited in the middle of the room. They take a moment, and start to approach.
That wait was worth it, then. Ms. Frizzle raises her eyebrows in amusement as she's reeled in and kissed. When they both could breathe again, she chortles lightly. "You missed me that much! How sweet!" She also manages to notice the attention they're getting from the...people around them. Interesting.
The other small group joins the former, following them inside.
"So, Whas wit th' couple?"
"I dunno, man. They're really stickin' out like sore thumbs, though."
A nod. They'll just see what will happen.
"Well, I'd like to think I was missed as well." Utonium says with a grin as he pulls out a chair for Valerie, before he takes a seat himself. Breathing is nice, yes. Kissing was almost worth the time there was without breath. As soon as she's seated, he'll join her. "It's the first week of classes. Tell me about it." he offers as he settles in.
One of the aliens, with blue-skin and little feelers on the top of his head continues to watch the two. "Her transport would be useful for us to finally start travelling through those worlds we have heard about."
Another, this one a Feringi, or however you spell it, "..yes, to riches untold." he says with a sneer.
Another blue feely guy. "Can we have the woman as well? She would be a nice... time.. for the trip."
"You're hungry already?"
"..I'm always hungry."
Utonium seems a little oblivious. "Actually, before you start on that.. there's something that I wanted to tell you." he says quietly to her. "I know it's been a while since we've seen each other and all, but I had some time to think on it.."
Yes, she does sit, like the proper lady she is. "Of course. School is always chaotic, but it's great." She says this enthusiastically. "Plus, your children seem to enjoy it. That's good!"
The other group mutters something else, strange language unknown. Who knows what they want. On the other hand, Ms. Frizzle blinks, suddenly becoming solemn. She nods, wanting to hear what the Professor has to say to her.
What's this all important thing that Utonium has to say? Could it be that he's finally going to tell Valerie his real name? That he's in love with her? What Chemical X really is?
"..oh, I'm glad that my kids are such a treat to teach!" the Professor offers cheerfully, all n.n. No, that's not what he meant to say, Frizzle just happened to distract him. "Did you want something to drink?" he asks as he tries to steer that ship back on track.
The small group of aliens talk amongst themselves, and one rises, starting to approach the table. He gets there just as Utonium starts to steer things around back to where he wanted them.
"What I meant to say, Valerie.." he reaches out to take her hand. "I know we've been writing back and forth quite often.. but there comes a time when you need to say something that can only be read between the lines in person. And.. I don't know if I can say it, but I'm just going to do it, and see. It's like this, Valerie Frizzle.. I.. I mean.. I.."
The alien clears his throat. "Why are you with a guy like this, you lovely vision of a lady? Why don't you come with me and my friends, and we can have some real fun, hmm? Go boldly exploring where no man has gone before and all that sweet stuff."
Nice timing, alien people! Interrupting a couple, how rude. Either way, Ms. Frizzle plays it off. "Oh dear. Well, hello there! I'm sure you can see this is my date. He was going to ask me something until you fellows came in." She folds her hands in her lap quietly as she makes eye contact with them. "You know, you should learn how to say 'excuse me' before you enter a conversation." Clearly, she doesn't answer the question given.
Meanwhile, the others come up, getting ready for...something. Not good. Yes.
Utonium feels the words stuck in his throat as he is so rudely interupted. Not only that, but this jerk was making a pass at his .. date? Girlfriend? We're not sure at the moment. But we may be here shortly. "So if you could please excuse us to continue our conversation?" he asks polietly. We'll try it Valerie's way, right?
The alien laughs, looking down at Utonium, "I'm trying to take your 'mate'.." Only word that he can manage to translate, "And the best you can do is that?" he starts laughing even more as he reaches to try to grab Valerie's arm. "Come on, let me take you away from his loser."
"My goodness," she responds ever so calmly as her arm is yanked, the bracelets clinking against each other. She frowns (a first), red-orange bangs falling in front of one eye. Are you gonna let him do that, Professor? What to do!
And as Ms. Frizzle is being taken, in a way, the other alien-types want to see what he, the prof, does. They've been bored, and this is the closest they'd get to any action around these parts.
Professor Utonium was going to ask polietly for them to unhand Frizzle and they'll just talk about this.. this is destroyed however, as the good Professor rises -- and he catches a punch for his troubles. Rocked across the jaw, Utonium falls back against the table, shaking his head to clear the images of his three girls flying around it.
This also awakens something within the usually docile Professor. "..ow." he rumbles, gripping the sides of the table. There are certain things that Professor Utonium never told Ms. Frizzle -- such as the time he filled in for his girls. As he rises from the table, he turns just as the alien releases Frizzle's arm. "Oh, you don't know when to give up." the blue skinned creature comments as he leans back to throw a punch, reading Utonium as an easy mark.
That's why the heavy boilermaker that rocks the alien's chin is never expected from the Professor. As soon as it lands, he points, anger in his voice, "This is the woman that I love, and you will not touch her unless she allows you to! Because I am in love with this woman, even if she may or may not have known this, but I was going to tell her tonight! And you had to come and try to take that moment away from me because I was going to tell Valerie how I feel because you are interupting a private moment!" Well, that's where Mojo gets it from
Err.. whoops. We'll talk after the fight that's about to erupt, sweetheart~
In the meantime, the two other aliens are starting to circle around to try to get the drop on the happy couple.
The Friz is surprised to see such ferocity in the Professor, but at the same time, she's touched by the sincerity of his words. Well, if you were nice all the time, it's only normal to get all of the rage bottled up inside before something makes you snap. Valerie backs up against the bar as the fighting commences, the other alien people in back making it even worse. Why not, they thought, now's a good time as any.
No prob, hon~ Let it allll out~~ <3
When last we left our 'SCIENCE!' couple, Professor Utonium had invited Gate's favorite teacher to Deep Space Nine so he could talk about something that has been on his mind. She had arrived in a very stunning fashion.. but not alone, as some mean old aliens wants to seperate the couple before Utonium could even say anything -- causing him to blurt out that he was in love with the Friz.. right before he decked an alien with a strong right cross. Unfornately, that's about the only thing that Utonium has going for him..
Because he's really not that great a fighter. He hasn't been in a fight in years.. and well, the punch that sends him sprawling across the table doesn't help that much.
Oh, that's gotta hurt. And since this bar fight started, it, like many other things, started a strangely familiar chain reaction. Now, almost everyone is either trying to knock the daylights out of each other or trying to escape the madness. Frizzle, on the other hand, kneels atop the bar counter, cranning her neck to see what damage has been done to her sweet. "Professor!" she cries, looking worried for a moment before her face brightens again. "Use the chair!" She then accidentally whacks one of the aliens with her clutch purse in hand, all the while trying to maintain her balance. "Oh sorry!" she says with a sheepish chortle. For some reason, it seems that she's use to chaos.
Ow, ow. Jaw. Square-Jaw Utonium has that one glaring weakness. That square jaw of his is a big target. As he pulls himself off the table, he rubs the edge of his face, speaking into his radio for half a second as he grabs said chair.. just in time to defend himself against a broken bottle. "Whoa, hey there, big fella, may want to watch it with the pointy objects!"
Quark, in the meantime, is in a flailing panic, trying to call security to break up this little party. "Hey! Hey! That's 500 credit a bottle wine you're breaking! OH MY PROFITS!"
Frizzle's alien she cold cocks falls face-forward to the floor, just as another starts to close in to grab the teacher.
Wow. This is probably the most excitement she's had in a while since the field trips slowed to a crawling pace. She does spot the one guy coming for her, though, wondering if she should do the whole 'help, save me, damsel-in-distress' thing. Mmm. It's a thought. But the bartender has the right idea. "Yes, please do call security. This is too much!" She jumps down from the counter, glancing back at the other alien. What to do? She starts weaving through the rowdy crowd to reach Professor Utonium. "Um, Professor, I think we should split." All this said with a grin.
Ducking back from the bottle, Utonium just throws the chair, knocking the big guy backwards as he feels a presence behind him, starting to turn into a swing.. when he sees it's Valerie and stops. His poor jacket is ripped, and that will be a rather nasty bruise on his jaw. "..that's a good idea, Val." he responds.
And excellent timing, as a phaser blast rings out, peeeew! It strikes a large, blue furred guy, causing him to fall over. Stun setting. Odo yells out, "Break this up!"
As chaos erupts, Utonium reaches out, grabbing a hold of Frizzle's hand, pulling her through the crowd, as they go with a group out the side door and down the hallway.
Poor Quark. "...so.. so much gold pressed latnium lost." He almost starts to sob. But who cares about Feringi, right?
Utonium, slowing down as they near the launch, looks down, releasing Valerie's hand, reaching up to rub his jaw. "..that.. didn't exacly go as planned. Sorry."
The sneaky escape through the side door was good. Ms. Frizzle just smiles and pats the professor on the shoulder. "It's all right. It was interesting. Besides, you did pretty good." Wait - didn't teachers not promote violence? "Just as long as the children don't see things like that all the time." And she definitely doesn't know the Powerpuff girls that well. Or did she forget? Eh. She runs a slender hand through her red-orange hair. "Well, I suppose we should go. It's pretty late."
All this is said while the sounds from the bar continue in the background.
Utonium smiles for a moment. "Of course not, Valerie.." Oh she'll remember eventually what his girls do. Not that he actively promotes fight.. he just knows his little apples are special. "It is pretty late, isn't it?" The Professor frowns. He didn't even really get to tell her what was on his mind, and it seems to have been forgotten. "Where did you park at?"
"Just over there," she replies sweetly in her low but charming voice, pointing out the weirdly-shaped bus. "Come on, I'll take you home." Smile. With that, she starts walking over to it, her steps clicking away.
"Okay." Utonium can't help but to smile back at her as his own shoes echo against the steel grating as he follows her to the Bus. Though that smile falters just a little. Well, it happens, right? Getting to the bus, he lets her go first, then follows her up. "Hey Liz." He knows that lizard is here someplace.
Liz salutes before sitting back...somewhere. She's always there. Rar.
"Seatbelts, please," Valerie chimes as she gets the parking brake up and pulling another lever into 'reverse.' The bus putters, then runs smoothly, slowly backing up and out of the station area.
Chuckling, Utonium sits behind Frizzle, buckling up. "You took my line." he comments quietly, waiting for them to get out of the station, before he leans against the window. "You looked spectacular tonight, Val. I just wish things had gone better."
Ms. Frizzle just nods her head, still smiling. "I can say the same, Professor."
The bus flies silently, shrinking into the distance.
