Since a lot of people are doing this, I'll give it a try.
Day 01 - A show that never should have been cancelled: The Invisible Man (2000).
For me, it's SciFi Channel's
The Invisible Man. The banter and the chemistry between the cast was nothing like I'd seen a very long time. Darien Fawkes was the ultimate anti-hero teamed up with a very patriotic-nutso partner, Bobby Hobbes (
their first meeting). Darien's invisibility comes at a price, the death of his brother and the possibility of going insane, permanently, if he doesn't receive his weekly dose of counteragent. Claire Keeply, known as
The Keeper, is a brilliant scientist with two Ph.Ds ("I'm smart and blonde"). She's in charge of keeping Darien sane and hopes to find a cure for 'quicksilver madness'.
Words can't say enough how brilliant this show was, you'll just have to check it out for yourselves. This was my first real foray into fandom and the start of my fic writing. This show became a victim to Bonnie Hammer, who wanted a show that would bring in a wider female audience to the SciFi Channel. This show did (more so than Farscape) and she gave it the pink slip. I-Man preceded Farscape on the Friday night lineup and it benefited from the lead-in audience since a great deal of I-Man's audience also watched Farscape.
SciFi would do well to bring this show back.
I'm adding another show to this because I can.
Peacemakers!
While this is obviously a Westernesque CSI, it was very engaging and fun to watch. Not just because of Tom Berenger, but the plots were solid and the characters were well played. Jared Stone, a decorated Civil War hero turned Marshal, has a mysterious past of his own. Latimer Finch plays the CSI investigator who brings technology to detective work and at times, Jared Stone shows fear about the technology and questions how people will actually use it.
I love all the references to products we know today: Kodak, Goodyear, straws, refrigerators, toilets, etc. The show wonderfully incorporates finger printing, blood tests, voice recordings, and other 'new' investigative techniques into the plot.
I've always loved Westerns, and this was unique, too bad the network didn't feel that way.
I decided to add another show to this list: Medical Investigation. And not because Neal is in it, but because this was another CSI-esque show. This show was based on diseases and outbreaks that required the NHI to get involved.
