Thanks for the well wishes, but unfortunately, Chris didn't get the score he needed. He missed it by a few points. He was so close and was very disappointed. His recruiter said he could try again after 30 days. I told Chris to take advantage of the time and study ( Read more... )

That's disappointing! At least he can take it over-and he's close enough that it's well worth trying again.

Sorry about the headache and the hot flash!

He kept saying he was a failure yesterday: he can't find a job, can't pass the ASVAB, etc... He really needs a confidence booster. We had him laughing and joking around by the time we got home.

Thanks. I just took some meds and I'm waiting for it to kick in. I had hot flashes all night. *grr* The joys of menopause.

Yeah, it's important to break that downward spiral of feeling like a failure. I know so many people looking for work, of various ages and professions . . . it's a terrible time to be searching, but even knowing that at one level often doesn't help at the personal level.

Hubby was telling him that last night and that it's not just him.

I did mention that his score this time around was better than when he took it in high school. We also tried to encourage him to start a study group with his other friends that want to take the ASVAB at some point. It would benefit all of them.

Poor kid.

I'm so congested right now. I hate waking with sinus headaches, it throws me off for the entire day.

Thanks for the congrats! We're super excited. And sorry about the ASVAB. He'll get it next time!

Welcome to the wonderful world of home ownership! There's nothing like having your own home. :D

He did score higher than when he took it in high school. I don't think he took it that serious then. I just need to pull rank on him (no pun intended) and get him to study harder. :)

When you get settled, I want to see pictures.

Oh I'm sorry Chris didn't quite make the grade.

How unusual - we have a public holiday on Monday too! (Though not for Veteran's Day.)

Thanks. He did take the test when he was in high school, but this time he did far better. I just need to push him a bit harder in his studies even if he thinks I'm being a pain-in-the-butt.

Monday is Memorial Day here, we celebrate Veteran's Day in November. We have two holidays to honor our soldiers: one to honor the living veterans and one to honor those who gave their lives in wars.

He'll thank you when he passes (or so I'd hope!)

Doh, so it is! I had a CRAFT moment (Can't Remember A Flipping Thing) - I blame 3 hours of work.

He'll complain and all that, but yeah, in the end, he'll look back on it and thank me (yes, he better!).

CRAFT - I like that! I have nothing to blame but a sinus headache. :\

Too bad for Chris. But if it makes him feel better, I only missed one question on the Census test and they still didn't hire me.
