And it looks like McCain already won...ooops...yeah. Looks like McCain had every intention of going to the debate regardless of what happened with the bailout.
The jet taking Obama to Ole Miss was ready to take off from Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington D.C. when he got word that McCain would show up. Both candidates were still in Washington working on the bailout. Which is why I thought suspending the campaigns was a bit silly. What's the matter, can't they do two things at once? That's what we pay them for. Take care of business in D.C. then hop on a plane and head for Ole Miss and then hop on the jet and return. The college and town spent millions for this and in this economy, you were going to force them to waste all that money? Yeah, right. *rolls eyes*
