Chris and Amber had their baby yesterday! We got a text at 1:35 in the morning saying they were on their way, and Emma Faith was born at 10:35. She is beautiful. Amber cracked me up, because when I got there around 8:45, she was sacked out. You could sit and watch her contractions go up and down and she was sound asleep. Apparently she woke up, said, "I feel a little pressure", pushed 2 1/2 times, and out came Emma! Will and I went back and forth to the hospital a few times yesterday before we finally got to hold her. Will is undecided if he will be the dad who will take pictures of everyone with our baby, or if he'll be stingy and not let anyone hold him/her. Ha - I'm pushing for the former.
Speaking of our baby, we're at Week 21, which means we've officially passed the halfway point. Baby is getting taste buds this week, and is as long as a carrot. I've offically started to "feel" pregnant. This week I had indigestion for the first time in my life, and last night was the first night I could not find a comfortable position to get to sleep. Normally I'm sacked out and only wake up to go to the potty a couple of times. Last night I had a hard time getting to sleep, and I woke up sore. I'll see my chiropractor tomorrow, but I'm thinking about stepping up my appointments to every three weeks instead of every four, as I've been hurting for more than a week now. So all this is new, but expected.
And - house hunting. By the end of the week, we may be homeowners. Well, we may have a contract signed. We won't officially close on the house until June 30, as we still have to pay our ridiculous rent through July. We found one in Ogletree Village that we absolutely loved, loved, loved, but it got snatched out from under us. This house is the second best option. It's still a good size, though the kitchen has less storage than I like. The house has sat empty for almost two years, so there is still some work that needs to be done, but nothing major. Our biggest two concerns are the yard and the paint. Man, you just would not believe the ugly paint job these people did. They even painted the blinds in one room. So I've got to get the doctor to clear me to paint. We've put in the contract that the yard has to be cleaned up before we move in, but I'm sure we'll still have to do a good bit of work. (There's also random furniture that they left, and stuff like a breadmaker...)
Anyway, about the house: it's a three bedroom, two bath in Ogletree Village, which is really the neighborhood where I wanted to end up. It's got a pretty good-sized fenced-in backyard, though it is hilly, so eventually we'll have to do something with that. There's a beautiful wall alongside the garage leading up to the front door where I plan to build a rose arbor for my climbing rose. Our bedroom is a pretty good size, as is the front of the two other bedrooms, which will be the guest room/office for now. Our bathroom has a separate garden tub and shower, which I think we will really enjoy. The kitchen has an eating area attached, so it's pretty big. And the living room is a good-sized space, with a beautiful stone fireplace. All that plus the two-car garage (with a ton of shelving that the previous owners left), an actual laundry room (not just a closet), and attic storage adds up to a house with which we can be happy.
