In reading the fabulous SGA recs, I've noticed that McShep fics seem to get more comments than H/W fics of the same quality. For example, "Junk Cheap," the AU I recced below, has comments stretching onto seven pages, while the most I've ever seen for an H/W fic is five pages (the marvelous "A Modest Proposal" by Ignasz Wisdom, and I'm totally not covetous of her talent in crafting that story, no, I'm not).
Any ideas why that is?
- Are there more McShep fans than H/W fans?
- Do McShep fans comment more freqeuntly than H/W fans?
- Are McShep writers more likely to be multi-fandom writers, who get readers from other fandoms that comment?
- Other?
Bonus question: Why is it that I hate every portmanteau in House fandom (Hameron, Choreman, Wilase, Grimmy) but think McShep is just fine?
