Just yesterday, I was introduced to an ongoing McKay/Sheppard WIP in the SGA fandom that I've been unable to quit thinking about. It rocked my socks. It twanged the kinks I know about and a few I didn't know I was missing.
The WIP is
Crimes Against Humanity by
seperis. I can't say it better than
ladycat777 said it in her rec that sent me there:
It's a love story, a romance and really, you have to understand the glory of this particular AU for you to understand just how incredibly wrong that statement is. And yet. It is a love story. It just happens to feature main characters that are psychopaths and murders and honestly? I think I love it more because it's so very wrong and works so very, very well.
The synopsis from
seperis:
Atlantis was a neutral colony before it became a prison camp, split between the mainland facilities and the ocean bound city itself for the war criminals and those convicted of crimes against humanity. Alcatraz, he'd heard Sheppard drawl when he arrived in the gateroom, manacled and bruised from a scuffle in the Colorado gate room that ended with four injured Marines. Inescapable, or so they said, but Sheppard's single word reminded him that nothing's inescapable.
This is DARK. And TWISTED. And SEXY-HOT. And an AU that works--the way
seperis keeps them in character while at the same time making them the kind of people you would normally run screaming from results in an utterly fascinating read. (And because they're so recognizably our characters, I had that Pavlovian 'I love these guys' response, so I can't blame myself for loving psychopathic!Sheppard and genocide!Rodney. After all, I love
nightdog_barks' Martin, and he'd feel right at home with these guys.)
Recently
seperis updated the 'verse with a porny little bit of
sleepy psychopaths, and ladycat777 added more porny goodness with
Downtime. Go, read, and be thankful that they don't live around here.
