Brendan Trumble is my former brother-in-law but in my family, you have to do a lot more than merely get divorced from my sister to get out. So I just go ahead and call him my brother-in-law. I call my actual brother-in-law my brother-in-law too. It's just easier. Or maybe not, but that's how I do.
Anyway, Brendan has been very ill for some time. He's been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and I wouldn't be telling tales out of school if I told you that back around Thanksgiving, we were pretty sure he wouldn't see Christmas. Which, thankfully, he did, or I wouldn't be writing this. Also New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Memorial Day and various birthdays.
Brendan is on a waiting list for a new liver and as he puts it himself "this is a roller coaster ride". He is exploring day to day things as well as looking to his spirituality and faith in his new blog, Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night.
