Smoky clothes

I got some great fall comfy clothes from a lady on freecycle. The problem is, they reek of smoke. Now, I'm not overly sensitive to that, as my husband smokes, so when I say they reek, you can see it's serious! I've washed and dried them, and I've sprayed them with Febreeze, and now I'm at a loss. I like them and I want to keep them, but they simply CAN'T be worn if they're going to stink like this.

Ideas?
