Is Rey's lightsaber the same one that Ben gave to Luke? I think the alien landlady implied that it was, but didn't that one fall from the cloud city when Vader cut Luke's hand off? In RotJ Vader said something like, "I see you have constructed a new lightsaber; your training is complete."

Yes. It is unclear how it was recovered after it fell from the Cloud City- I think Han even asks when he sees it, but Maz doesn't say.

Also, were we supposed to recognise the old bloke at the beginning who had the memory stick with the secret map on it? He and Kylo Ren seemed to know each other.

I was wondering that as well- apparently his name is Lor San Tekka, but this appears to be his first appearance to date. Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes important later, or eventually crops up in one of the tie-in series.

I agree. My guess is he worked with Luke in his Jedi academy.
