No - Really .
I'm posting this whole thread as I want to talk about force awakens - or at least get a couple of things off my chest.

Surfed over here from dorktowerfeed.

Not quite sure how I felt about the movie yet. I'm going to need a little longer to digest it- I enjoyed it on the most part, but there was a lot of it that felt kind of ... fanfictiony? The main baddies were The Empire But Worse under the command of Han and Leia's Evil Son, who have The Death Star But Bigger... Part of me feels that this is The Awesome Star Wars You Thought Up When You Were 16, which is maybe a little farther away than what Classic Star Wars is than I'd really like.

I feel like there's a certain sense of wonder around the originals that may have been lost in patterning the movie after the darker Empire model rather than ANH, but I fully admit that some of that may be a consequence of having seen this movie for the first time as a 34-year-old rather than an 8-year-old. The prequels also put some effort into channeling this, even if they didn't quite stick the landing.

I like the three new main characters and would be happy to follow them around for the next couple movies, though it seems like Rey is from the "good-at-everything" main character mold; killing off Han is going to be controversial, I'm sure, but it's one way to make sure that the 'old guard' don't take over the series.

Other misc. Thoughts:

- I never thought I'd say this but I kind of miss the acrobatic fight scenes from the prequels.

- I wasn't expecting the Admiral Ackbar cameo! that was pretty cool to see.

- For someone who's supposed to be Han and Leia's son, Kylo Ren sure doesn't look anything like either of them. I'm just saying.

- The folks I was with seemed to think that the movie was implying that Rey was Luke's daughter; I'm starting to think that she's the "split Jedi siblings" thing makes more sense. Particularly if she was born after things started to go south with Ben or after Han and Leia split.

- If Supreme Leader Snoke turns out to be a Darth Sidious who miraculously survived his tumble into the Death Star reactor core in RotJ, I quit this series forever.
