I have to write a mission statement for teaching... can you check this one out and see what you think...
My objective as a teacher is to cultivate my students’ individuality, creativity, and a genuine love for learning. Students should not be taught, but rather guided through their own personal journey of discovering themselves, and their place in the world around them. Students should learn to mentally process their emotions, gather their ideas and opinions, think critically about all points of view, and then stand strong for what they believe in. If a person is educated in this manner, I believe that we, as an educational system, have proven to be effective.
As a teacher, I will educate my students through hands on experiences. I will create an open- minded classroom where all opinions and beliefs will be respected. Only then will students feel the freedom to express themselves, and be able to secure a place in the world where they know that they belong.
