I agree with basically all of that. Part of me loves the book because I like bullshit happy endings, but...as much as I hated seeing people die in the last few HP books, it was just so much more realistic. No protagonist escapes from these epic showdowns without losing at least a couple loved ones. (Although the epic showdown was actually just a random ass debate that gave Bella a chance to show off her love shield or what the fuck ever.) And yeah, Irina's death counts for shit.

I don't even know I feel about Jacob imprinting on the water horse. I guess my problem with that and the whole book is that it's all just way too perfect and unbelievable. Bella gets the guy, the immortality, BOTH of her families, a majestic cottage in the woods, boatloads of money, a baby that is apparently the most charming and perfect child alive, she doesn't have to actually choose or lose anything or sacrifice a goddamn thing. AND they make this whole big deal in every book about how psycho newborn vampires are and Bella suffers from NONE of that? None? Come on. It would have been more interesting if she turned into this dark newborn who then had to overcome that and learn to be good again but noooo.

Yeah, the Volturi shit should have been saved for another book. The fourth book could have been entirely devoted to marriage, pregnancy, and Bella becoming a crazy newborn, and once that was resolved, they could have moved on to a fifth book in which they dealt with all the Volturi crap.

Did you read The Host? I liked that so much more than all the Twilight books, honestly.
