The Goodsmith's Shop is no more. Apparently Goodsmiths is going to shut down. And they didn't let me know until about 21 hours ago. This is the email that I received.
Hello friends,
When we started Goodsmiths we had a vision for becoming the Marketplace for Makers. Over the course of the last few years, we built our marketplace from scratch and had over 8,000 shop owners call Goodsmiths home. While the last vision we had for the company was to be writing this email to our loyal fans and supporters, the hard truth is that our time to capitalize on the opportunity has come to an end.
Many of you are probably wondering what is next? We will be allowing shop owners to login to retrieve order information until December 31, 2014. On January 1, 2015, Goodsmiths.com will be unaccessible. For more information please visit our blog where you will find a more in depth update on the status of Goodsmiths.
We wish you all the best,
Goodsmiths Staff
So needless to say that I'll be moving the store back to Esty in the next few weeks. It might take some time given the holidays and the layoff at work. So if anyone was considering anything in the store please e-mail me and let me know. I'll try my best and fulfill the order and I will give a 10% discount for your troubles.
As for the project I've started a new project a Double Helix necklace.
I'm using Miyuki Delicas 6/0 steel galvanized for the core beads. For the outer spiral it starts with 15/0 Delica Transparent Sapphire AB, 11/0 Blue Tones, 3mm Square Mix Blue Tones, a repeat of the 11/0 Blue Tones, and finally ending with the 15/0 Delica Transparent Sapphire ABs. All of it strung on 8lb Black/ Smoke Fireline.
I have difficulty with the 15/0s slipping into the bore holes of the 6/0s. In an effort to curb that I'm currently using a hat pin. Here's what it looked like at 2" complete. The hat pin is keeping the spiral tighter than previously. I am also having to work the top three beads off to string on the newest round of spiral.
My only issue with Miyuki and their Mixes is that they aren't always uniform across the board. Below is a picture of the 11/0 Blue Tones Mix. It has two beads that are not in the 3mm cube Blue Tones Mix.

Yes, I'm that particular. I'd like my mixes to match bead for bead.
