Magazine project

Sorry its been so long since the last post. I've been distracted by Bead&Button's BeadingBasics: Peyote Stitch issue. The Flat Cellini Spiral Tactile Treasures: Green Bangle by Anna Elizabeth Draeger. It should be on stands until the 18th of this month.

I didn't think that I'd like it as much for myself and made my initial project for a gift. It was fun and familiar, I've done enough Cellini ropes to feel comfortable to do this even though the project is listed as Intermediate/Advanced. I have to admit that it was my first attempt with flat peyote.

Somehow my first two attempts that I ended up dropping beads on one and adding too many on the next. It was frustrating to get to the end and find out that its not as easy as just zipping up the project. I followed the suggested basics on adding thread. Despite having to add on and drop beads on the zipping up process the second bangle attempt turned out better than the first.

I recently bought two shirt dresses in a Blue Zicon and Dark Teal that I needed a cool bracelet to go with so I opted to make them:

My Second Attempt Dark Blue & Black:

Beads Used: Miyuki [Japanese Seed Beads] - 8/0 Silver Lined Blue Zircon (8-91425-TB), 11/0 Matte Round Silver Lined Capri Blue (11-925F-TB), 15/0 Round Matte Metallic Blue Iris (15-92009-TB), 15/0 Round Gunmetal (15-9452-TB), 15/0 Round Silver Lined Blue Zircon (15-91425-TB) Czech [Seed Beads] - 9/0 Gunmetal/Hematite, 10/0 Opaque Black Luster.

The pattern called for 10/0 Cylnder and a 12/0 3-cut bead, as I couldn't find many options in 10/0 or 12/0s I had to go with what I could find the Czech 9/0 and 10/0s. They did not alter the texturing that happens with the increase and decreasing size. I found Beadaholique to have the Czech in the right sizes, but the colors available were somewhat limited. I don't think that their fault, I think that maybe all that there is available from their supplier/manufacturer. If anyone finds a better selection, please let me know so that I can let everyone know.

I will warn anyone attempting to do this with my listed supplies above that the Czech beads are all off a hank, and that means your occasional oddly shaped, broken, too small or too long beads. You will need to cull beads as needed. I didn't cull the smaller beads, I saved those for the ends of rows so that the width was better maintained.

I am currently working my third attempt at the bangle in Dark Teals and Blacks (pictured below).

Beads Used: Miyuki [Japanese Seed Beads] - 8/0 Matte Silver Lined Teal (8-92425-TB), 11/0 Translucent Round Teal (11-92405-TB), 11/0 DELICAS Cylnrical Steel (DB021-TB), 15/0 Round Miyuki Steel (15-9190-TB), 15/0 Round Opaque Black (15-94501-TB), 15/0 Round Miyuki Silver Lined Teal (15-91424-TB) Czech [Seed Beads] - 9/0 Gunmetal/Hematite, 10/0 Opaque Black Luster, TOHO{Darcie} [Japanese Seed Beads] - Round Silver Lined Teal (1951-0114)

I'll be alternating the 11/0 Miyuki Translucent Teals and the 11/0 Toho Round Silver Lined Teal so far I like the effect.

I will post pictures when this one is done.
