Ooooh, you thought you were getting a sweet bad-poetry post. You thought wrong, my friends.
Living Situation: Having ended my lease at my old, bug-ridden apartment in April, I spent the following 2-3 months living with Sydney and her cats in the condo. It was a nice way to get a "trial run" in, to see what it's like to *have* to live together 24/7. Well, I mean not really 24/7; we both have jobs, so I guess that means it's down to more like 15/7 or something. Either way.... Her sister Amy, who has been designated my surrogate girlfriend should anything ever happen to Syd, was also living with us as she was interning at the
Center. A fun time was had by all. Then in July, approximately all at the same time, Amy moved back to Athens, Syd's friend Matthew moved into the condo, and then I moved in with Michael and Kenny, who is one of my closest, dearest, gayest, and long-time friends of all time. We've got a nice little townhome in Sandy Springs; amenities include such things as free ants when it rains, clean drinking water, carpet that has seen much happier times, a small garden (maintained by our own in-house monk), 2 pianos, and a leg lamp a-la A Christmas Story. Surprisingly enough, I love it here; traffic (for me at least) isn't bad at all, I can walk to the subway station for after work trips to downtown and my work commute is still only 45 minutes.
Work: Work is still...workey? Not too much has changed; I've now been there over a year. The learning curve is getting smaller, but I'm still trying my hand at new types of projects every now and then. This coming week I think I'll be designing kitchen backsplashes, which is interesting seeing as I've never even owned my own kitchen. But we'll see.
Sydney: Still dating, still in love, still growing and changing and all for the better. It's strange sometimes, to think about how different "we" are than "we" used to be, and it's so much healthier now! We're actually spending less time together, allowing for our own interests and friendships to develop further. Sydney's been really getting back into music; in the past 2 months she's been offered 3 jobs at Dad's Garage, and accepted 2 of them. They've got NBL for Syd over there at Dad's, and I'm just so danged proud of her! In tangential Sydney news, I have officially declared myself a "cat" person, as I have missed being around Avery, Gus, and Olive since I moved out of the condo. Not to mention the fact that I've had thoughts about getting a kitten once day when we have our own place and jeez...so neat! Needless to say, Sydney's quite pleased with this change in my persona.
Other than that, not too much else has been going on. I'm still putting in a bunch of time on my own, working on projects for the
Atlanta Freedom Bands and trying to stay afloat. I'm in charge of getting our guard up and running, as well as maintaining our new website. Not to mention all of my duties as Hot Youth Coordinator and Hot Vice President. And Hot Quad Player. My life...so hard.
In other boring update-ey news, Syd, Kenny, our new friend Christopher, and myself went on a fantastic date to Cafe Intermezzo last night. We all had fancy coffees and fancy desserts, and I got to listen to Kenny and Christopher have fancy conversations. They're just so danged intelligent, it verges on absurdity.
