(no subject)
So it's been an insanely long time since my last update. I've had a lot of stuff going on at work and home recently. My manager Ashok came to my desk about three weeks ago and told me that if I wanted to, he'll keep me in the group until May of 2009, or if I'd like to..I can apply for other positions within the company.
Now I had considered this for quite some time, as I really haven't been fond of the idea of going back to grad school right away. Even if I do go back, it wouldn't be for the right reasons. I want to be excited about going to grad school and be in the right mindset financially and physically. I'm definetly not. I've got enough loans on my plate right now to deal with.
I've been talking with some friends and my roomate Ryan, who work for Verisign. Pretty much an internet security powerhouse. They have some openings for security analysts and for the past two weeks I had considered applying, as its much closer to Providence (5 min from my house), more pay..and overall just a better situation. I bit the bullet..and sent my resume in to them about two weeks ago.
They called me back the day after, and I quickly set up a time to interview. Went to the interview last Wednsday and thought I did really well. At this point, I'm just waiting to hear back so I can get the ball rolling. Working for Verisign is a huge opportunity and a chance for me to expand on my resume, and do something much more in line with what I really want to do.
Tomorrow will be a week since my interview and I've yet to hear back. Part of me is worried that says something in itself, but who really knows. I've heard good things from my co-workers and one of the guys that interviewed me told me "They're going to hire you," which I'm not sure how to think about. Should I take that seriously? Was it a joke? Who knows, I just hope to god I can find out tomorrow so I can let HP know I wont be staying and wont be going back to grad school.
Ahh, life just got a whole lot more stressful all of a sudden.
