Since it does not use specified banned parts, it is legal in California while a Bushmaster AR-15 that uses the exact same ammunition, and exact same magazine is not. It's a fairly good illustration of how utterly stupid some of the gun laws we have are. Barrel shrouds, pistol grips, the color black are all cosmetic issues and have zero effect on the function of sending a bullet down a barrel and into a target.
I wonder if The Bug would like one when she gets a bit older...
