With a good harness like the one i am wearing. The weight gets distributed well. It does become surprisingly comfortable.

Yates voyager riggers harness.

I have the top removed, Not really needed on steel builds. Granted if i were "OSHA" safe it would be attached with the double lanyard that climbers loathe to wear or use properly if worn. Along with a fall arrestor as well as my positioning gear. My positioning gear, which typically is all i use. A ladder hook, swivel, short static line, GriGri and carabiner.
