This was my first time participating in Festivids, and I had a great experience. Time and circumstance allowing, I'll definitely do it again next year. I'm also extremely tempted to sign up for the Equinox Vid Exchange, but sign-ups for that close in literally hours and maybe I should focus on other fan projects before rushing into another exchange...
So, this was the second vid I made in Premiere Pro, and the first vid where I made parts of it using After Effects. Anytime I used the panning feature I did it in AfterEffects to get that nice bouncy feel. Also, more obviously, the parts where I used the parallax effect to render a panel "3-D" and the part where Kimber throws a pie and I animated the pie. That was fun and I kinda wished I'd included more stuff like that, but few panels screamed to be animated the way that panel did. ;-)
I was inspired heavily by
ghost_lingering's Saga vid "Your Mother", which she made entirely in AfterEffects and is amazing.
I am terrible making tutorials, but if anyone is wondering how I made anything, I can refer you to the tutorials that I found most helpful:
Create A 3D Parallax Video Using AfterEffects - more for the After Effects part than the Photoshop part, because using Content Aware Fill on comic book art rarely works. Trust me, I've tried. For the photoshop part of the process:
Trent's After Effects Motion Comic Tutorials - these are long but very detailed and include the basic process of using photoshop to edit comic art, especially art with flat colors. I haven't watched them all but the ones I watched were good.
