Soup!

Becky made vegetable beef soup and it is delicious! If you want some, come and get it before I eat it all.

Okay, I can't eat it all because she made a huge pot of soup.

[comes in mid-meal] Hey, I heard there was soup. [gives Wyatt a half-wave with her braced-hand]

[smiles] There's our boxer!

[heartof_thezone]

[stops where she is and gives him a regal curtsey; flinches when her balance leans too far one way, but recovers and stands straight]

That's hard to do without the skirt.

[wyattjcain]

[laughs] You don't have the skirt to balance you. How's the hand?

[heartof_thezone]

[looks at her hand and makes a face] Kinda dull-sore. Hurts, but it doesn't hurt. [makes another face; in a tone that implies it's happened twice this morning, already] Unless I swing wide and whack the door or the desk.

[he lifts the hand he had all his fingers broken] I know what you mean.. [looks at his hand as he wiggles his fingers] It still hurts from time to time.

[smiles] I need to stop getting into fights. [to the kids] It's not very nice. [shakes her head; smiles when they all shakes their heads, too]

[shakes her head when Charlie offers a piece of mushy carrot] No thank you, sweetie. That's your lunch.

Wasn't this the fella that wouldn't take 'no' for an answer?

[sits in the empty chair and nods] Yes, it was.

[wyattjcain]

Well then, he deserved it. [nods as he smiles]

[she's trying to make sure the kids don't start hitting each other or others, to get their way, but seeing and hearing the pride in Wyatt's reply makes her grin]

[turns to TJ and Leora] Fighting is bad, but Mama Dree was protecting herself. When you're older, we'll teach you when it's necessary. However, if I hear that you two are hitting each other, we're gonna have a talk in my office. [points at the badge on his uniform, then looks at Dree and nods]

[gives the twins a serious look when their eyes go wide, then nod in understanding]
