Debatey debatey~~
Garney: I .. I think I wanna buy a new compie monitor o-o
Kyuu: Is yours on the way out?
Garney: quite off-colour
Garney: had it .. err.. six years?
Kyuu: That would explain it X_X
Kyuu: If you can afford it too, maybe some upgrades for the Jenii puter itself too?
Garney: big clunky thing, I want a flatscreen
Garney: i'm not sure how much more i can upgrade Jeniiputer
Garney: he's just.. mrr
Garney: my other idea was buy a shiny taplop.. but those are more expensive really and my taplop does fine for what i need
Garney: im debating
Garney: think i've thrown out the taplop idea
Kyuu: Is something to think about. Or store the moneys for a rainy day?
Garney: i thought if i got new monitor, when-if-i might get soemthing from gradnpa's prbate i could buy a new puter and already have a new monitor
Garney: the quad-core processors impress me *-*
Garney: if i tried to upgrade Jeniiputer.. he'd need a reinstall and wipe to remove the viruses and memory sink
Kyuu: This is true
New monitor - I've had this one ages, I promised myself I'd get a new one cos this is just a cheapo from Wal*Mart I bought when I got Jeniiputer all those years ago.
This would leave enough money left over for emergencies over summer, stick it somewhere safe and let it save up. Possibly gaining interest and accumulating other dollars for a new computer/vehicle/whatever.
Upgrade Jeniiputer - He WOULD need a total wipe and reinstall. And any upgrade would probably attack his processor, cos i've upgraded everything else in him except that. But processors are expensive as hell and require more fans, Jeniiputer has a knack for overheating already. He could use a DVD drive, but his video card is awesome, his memory is good, and the CD writer makes me happy in my pants.
New laptop - These are shiny and would mean I could lay in bed when needed and all that, or travel with it... but I'd have to consider my gaming/internet use and how most laptops that are fairly cheap aren't gaming friendly, so what I would want would probably be expensive. And I don't really work on the laptop I already have, I much prefer my desktop... maybe I'm weird like that, but I don't trust laptops to be the computer I need when I spend most of my time at home and on the internet. To me, laptops aren't meant for that.
New desktop - Quad processors impress me, a lot.
There's one at Circuit City for $1800 that just really makes me orgasm, with a very shiny video card, some serious memory, and total gaming capacity. Yes, I would be greedy this time and demand a "gaming" desktop. Because if you say "gaming" desktop, you can pretty much guarantee it can handle graphic design work like I want anyway, AND won't have to fuss at it to play RO and GW.
Jeniiputer has a GeForce 6200 with 2 MB DDR2 memory and 60 gig harddrive, processor is an Intel P4 clocked at about 1.8 ghz I think
HP Pavilion Media Center TV PC (M-8120-N) - $1149.99
Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz, GeForce 7250, 3GB of DDR2 memory, 128MB dedicated, dual 320GB hard drives, 1066MHz frontside bus
HP Pavilion Media Center TV PC (M8150N) - $1449.99
Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz, GeForce 8400, 3GB of DDR2 memory, 256MB dedicated, dual 320GB hard drives, 1066MHz frontside bus
Gateway Desktop Gaming PC (FX8040) - $1799.99
Core 2 Quad 2.40GHz, GeForce 8800, 3GB of DDR2 memory, 320MB dedicated, 500GB hard drive, 1066MHz frontside bus - the only bad thing, it's a Gateway, I've heard bad things about Gateways T__T
In other news... I don't have time for the rest I wanted to think about! GAH! *stumbles to class*
