Fandom Babble (SG-1, Atlantis, Buffy)

Jan 21, 2005 22:38

Just finished watching SG-1 and Atlantis. Now I must ramble like the fangirl I am. ^_^

SG-1- Is it just me, or is someone trying to kill this show? The quality has gone down hill so fast it's practically a vertical drop. *disgusted* We had, what, five seconds of Daniel total? Then there's all the forced UST between Carter and her commanding ( Read more... )

I hear you on Spike. As much as I kinda liked the last episode, Buffy really fizzled at the end. Stupid Spike-ruining.
If you ever watch Angel, Spike shows up for the last season. And, well, Spike and Angel having to work together and completely hating each other? So great.

I even have a sneaking likeness for... *is embarrassed* Buffy/Angel.
They had their moments. The last episode of season 2 always kills me dead with them. And actually I like their relationship better after it's over, how it's dealt with when he gets his own series. But like one of your earlier post's comment thread pointed out, and finally made me realize, the age thing is creepy.

The thing is, one can do Spike-in-love without being OOC. They did it with Dru, and they could do it again, just not with Buffy. Spike would never in a million years have any sort of tolerance for Buffy. He'd probably think of it as messing with Angel's left overs. *has squicked herself with the above statement*

I was just watching the ep where Dru comes back and tries to get Spike to return to the fold. For a few minutes, I saw the real Spike... *sniffles* And then they had to do that weird Harmony/Dru/Buffy cat fight thing. *snorting*

Dang it-- bewteen you, Raven, and Amber, I'm gonna end up watching Ats too. Evil, you are.

But like one of your earlier post's comment thread pointed out, and finally made me realize, the age thing is creepy.Which is why I don't really support the pairing-- just have a sneaking likeness ( ... )

That's a really interesting idea.
Actually, I could almost believe it from that perspective. I mean, Spike has definite severe Angel-issues and I could see him going after Buffy just to torment Angel. But that isn't how the series does it - they make him very out of character and love-sick puppy. The kicker is, I can believe the Buffy half of the romance a little bit, but not the Spike.

It's choppy. Especially the later seasons. Some episodes were just amazing and then there'd be a long string of crap. But it definitely had it's moments and I loved Doyle more than any other character in the whole Buffyverse (he narrowly beat out Oz) and Westley got to grow up and Gunn and Fred were fun.
*holds out crack*

Angel does sorta get a good pair in his series, but, well, he's cursed. So obviously things go

*nods* Spike's goal then would be to be the one in control. To wrap Buffy around his finger and throw it in Angel's face, or something like that.

Exactly. Spike loves, but when he does, it's a deep, twisted, consuming thing-- not a stealing-your-sweater thing. He'll do anything for the one he loves (look at Dru), but he doesn't expose the 'weakness' of loving unless he's certain he's safe and in control.

You push your product well, little lady. ^_~

'Cause, other wise, it wouldn't be a curse. ^___^

Exactly. He'd go in entirely as a kick to Angel. He may accidentally feel a bit himself in the process, but I'd be skeptical of that. And he does use it to push Angel's buttons.

And they try that a little with Buffy. There is the scary/creepy obsessive stalking thing with the robot and all (wait, shoot, am I spoiling stuff?) but it's not done very spike-like.
I love how Spike is an evil bastard and yet I feel really sorry for him.

It's easier when you have high-ish quality stuff to push.

Now that I'd like to see. Angel deserves to have his buttons pushed-- and often. ^_~

(wait, shoot, am I spoiling stuff?)
Dear, I've been reading fanfiction. You can't spoil me any more than that has. *is such a bad girl*

Precisely. That's the edge they need to play. He's so old and yet, at the same time frozen at a period of uncertainty... he's tough, but William still exists, kicked, bruised and hurt by the world, at his core.

*would cuddle Spike, but has no desire to die*
