Stupid ONTD_P always makes me angry. This was the most recent post, and okay, yeah- I kind of agree with some of the comments because I'm not a huge fan of Indian colorism myself- I think darker guys are sexier, and I disapprove of the whole skin lightening thing. My boyfriend's grandmother is constantly trying to lighten his skin, and he's always like, nooooo, I'm ugly with a tan (when we're at the beach) where I'm like, false, you are HOTTER with a tan. But I do disagree that colorism was pushed on Indian people by white society- it existed long before the British occupation, and the fact that everyone is so upset about the word Aryan is kind of ridiculous. In India, an Aryan isn't like the blonde/blue eyed Hitler-favored image it calls up for Americans, but indicative of the Aryans who settled India back in the Vedic days, when the country (which was hardly a country back in BC whenever) was settled by lighter skinned people who settled in with the darker skinned natives. By lighter skinned, I don't mean white, I mean lighter than say, people you'd find in areas with Dravidian languages, such as Karnataka or Tamil Nadu. However, I digress, the real reason I found this upsetting was the people hating on Shahid Kapoor.
