the international centre for democratic transition, which is where i work, is currently conducting a training program for north korean officials. in fact, they're in budapest now, doing sessions on good democratic practices. which i suppose is a good thing. one of the other interns here told me that anita, one of the head staff here, said jokingly ( Read more... )

But I guess you're trying to prevent the end... the end of the environment.

i think what i was trying to say about international diplomacy is it's emotionally painful for me. i don't think i could honestly believe in aid for democratic transition working until things were working out in my own home country.

although that's not to say environmental law or working towards environmental sustainability is less emotionally painful. it's all hard. i think this is just a personal decision of mine.

Good. I just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't going to be easy because that would be stupid.

It's totally going to be the same with nursing. When a patient dies, not if, when, it's totally going to affect me so I would love to do pediatrics or neo-natal but it would hurt to lose a patient.

these are just the personal decisions you make, i guess, when you decide what the rest of your life is going to be about. we'll all find different ways, and hopefully the right ways for us, to channel ourselves.
