(I posted most of this on Buzz, but I'll ask here as well.)

I currently have two memory cards (8GB total), which allows me a total of about 2080 pictures, but only 40min-1hr of video. If I'm going on an 11-day trip, where I might be trying to take pictures of iguanas, turtles, and penguins, and I don't want to drag a laptop along just to clear memory space, how much space in memory cards should I bring?

As an estimate of number of pictures I take: I took ~450 pictures driving through Glacier one day (with a couple stops walking around), 1160 on a four day hiking trip (and I was deleting the worst pictures by the last day because I was out of space), 1050 on a week long trip to Madiera, ~900 on a week+ trip to Hawaii plus ~30min of video trying to get pictures of turtles (including forgetting my camera on several outings and using my phone instead), but less than 300 on a 7-day Alaska cruise. Also, all this was with my old camera. I think I managed to take a couple hundred pictures at the zoo, within a couple hours, just after I bought my new camera. I filled both memory cards while trying to take video of my grandmother cooking, on a single day.

I also currently have two batteries. Given that there are two consecutive nights that involve camping (and probably a lack of power), should I buy an extra battery? or two?
