hmmm
so. yeah. i'm alone in NC for 2 hours and bored out of my mind already. ok. that's unfair. my momma and i spent most of the day either eating or buying food via her wallet, which is always nice. we also drove around, trying to get the feel of the city. i was hoping to spend the night hanging out with one of the interns, but it sounds like she's getting in late, and if she's got folks, she might be otherwise occupied. however, the woman who's house i'll be living in for the summer just invited me to go see a movie with her and her husband (they got married literally days ago, after living together for a while, and they just all sorts of giddy. its really cute. and also nice to see what appears to be a normal, happy, healthy couple). so mostly i'll just be wasting time til they get back from dinner (not all that hungry cause we had a late lunch. also, i don't want to impose too much). ooo!!! met my new boss and supervisors today and i'm SUPER excited about working. now... if only we could start working. the biggest problem with this job (aside from it being in a hottern'hell location) is that the hours seem like they really won't let me swim. might be able to get a ymca membership and swim before work, but that means i'd have to get up at like 6am on swim days (which, needless to say, would probably not end up being every day). but i think i'll wait and see what the schedule is before i drop money on a membership i'll be too tired to use. but we shall see. um, there were 10 or 12 more things that i meant to write about, but i really have no idea what those were. i have doggies!!! beya (?) is 2.5 and adorable. sam is ...either 5 or 9. that's a big difference. but both numbers are possible. only those numbers. he adopted j- and j- while they were working in...ecuador? something like that? (issues with details today. as always) and they brought him back. one of his ears has been cut off, because that's what traditionally was done to dogs that weren't strong enough or good hunters. he definitely wasn't native to that area - probably aussie- and his life was pretty shitty. but now it's totally sweet because he's living in a beautiful house with wonderful people who love him lots. and... intern just called! i'm hoping this works out. i really want to like her a lot. she emailed me and the other girl that we were supposed to live with but it didn't work out, and asked if we wanted to explore durham together today, b/c she's just as nervous and co-dependent as i am. :) so i'm gonna go pick up and we're going to find some dinner as soon as i get my ass moving. news... news... i finally graduated college? that was pretty sweet. also sweet is the ridiculous sunburn/tanline i have from my dress and the flowers that were in my hair. yeah. flowers. in MY hair. lots of them. you won't believe til you see it. it was ridiculous. i went grocery shopping with karl, jim and brett afterwards still all dressed up. which was hilarious. and we threw a huge bbq/picnic for all our families- at least 12 different families were there, and it was wonderful. and we bought way too much food. so yeah. this summer seems to be off to an interesting start, if nothing else. more updates to follow, i'm sure.
