-It's story telling time. And the campers are all gathered around Ran and her shamisen. Between "verses", she strums out a few lines. The music and the story seems to fit... The song sounded a bit like
this-
This is the tail of a once proud sorcerer named Mima...
She was once a simple human woman from the far eastern lands of my home world. She studied magic of all sorts, and traveled the globe seeking its arcane artforms. She saw how great a person could become using magic. She wanted all of that and more. She wanted to see just what boundaries magic could surpass. To see what went beyond living understanding...
Of course it was not long before she transcended and became something more than human. All of the magic she learned transformed her body into that of a Youkai, a being both beyond and within nature. Now that woman, Mima, shared her existence with beings like myself, who have lived long for our strength. Now she had as many centuries as she desired to become stronger...
But this was not enough for her.
She lusted for more. To see more. To do more. Her peers turned on her. Scholars of the time would write her off as an abomination to magic. What had been natural curiosity had turned into dangerous obsession. She could not be satisfied.
Her quest for the understanding beyond caused her to do many horrific things. The lives of others were just toys for her to play with. Pieces for her to move on a giant gameboard between herself and the undefined goal she sought after. What had once been a good woman had corrupted into something darker, and far more twisted than anything you and I could ever imagine. She was beyond human, beyond youkai.
Well it just so happened that the world has a means of balancing itself...
Mima transcended her existence again, becoming a soul itself, sustained only by her own magic. She could no longer effect anyone or anything, not in the way she used to. In a way, it was as if the planet itself had sealed her. Though really, I hear it was a shrine maiden that had done it... Either way, this seemed to anger her more than anything. Her journey to omniscience had been ended. And what do you think she did?
Well... the story actually ends there, doesn't it? Hmm...
