KARTE 004 || [ANONYMOUS TEXT]

Aug 27, 2010 22:47

[The Doctor is extremely shaken up by a certain someone's arrival, though he'd never admit it.]

[An anonymous text is sent to each Guide.]

What is worse, Thor?

A wicked man who pretends to be kind to get what he wants?

Or a virtuous man who does cruel things out of necessity?

I'm looking for the answer.

The first.

And why?

It's simple. A lie is considered sinful regardless. But with selfish lies vs selfless lies, I would definitely feel the first is more evil.

Good answer.
But what if the selfish lie ends in one's life being saved?
What if the selfless lie ends in someone dying?

[Without hesitation.]

The first one.

But why is that...?

Pain eventually passes; intent matters more. The hurt lasts much longer with a true betrayal.

But what if the wicked man is helping people who would have died without him?

I assume it would depend on the circumstances.

The first one helps to extort, exploit and torture.

The second is a murderer.

But what is it the first desires?

And why does the second murder?

Revenge for a loved one who was brutally tormented and killed.

To end the suffering of those who do not deserve their pain.

Good choice. Why?

It is naive to imply that motivations matter when identical suffering is the result.

That's right. But the first person's actions do not lead to suffering. The recipients of his empty gestures are given true happiness.

Those other two are really so common... A lot of people really just go after what they want and pretend that they're good people. And a lot of people that everyone brands as bad aren't always that bad. I don't think I'd even blink an eye if I ran into either.

But a bad hair day. Now that can ruin the entire day.

[Kiriko feels comfortable revealing himself to Maraich. He turns on the Guide video and smiles.]

You have an interesting way of looking at things, my friend. I would say I have to agree... with every statement, that is. [He chuckles a bit.]
