Curiosity planted the seed and thought provided the sunlight, and here I find myself with a list of questions that might otherwise go unanswered. It strikes me that I know very little about any one of you on a personal, opinionated level, and that such a situation can probably be said to be true of many throughout the station.

I’d like to ask ( Read more... )

Oh, this might be fun!

[She looks like she's typing up some answers on the Guide, but then...]

On my home planet, the month of your birth is said to correspond with the alignment of a certain constellation of stars, and depending upon which constellation it alligns with your zodiac sign, or star sign, is decided.

Usually, this then goes to act as the basis of horoscopes, and although such things are generally useless they can often give some small amount of amusement; or often comfort for some.

If you'd tell me your date of birth, I'd be happy to calculate what your zodiac sign would have been, had you been on my planet. [tl;dr: d.o.b please]

[lalala noting this down: hello useful information that he will seek out context for later.]

Ah. I'm afraid I forgot to take into account the difference in lunar cycles between planets. The Zodiac only work in correlation with with a twelve month cycle of 365 days total.

I could possibly give you a rough estimate of your Chinese zodiac, however, if you supply me with the year of your birth? [Sure it won't be at all accurate or even relatable due to planetary differences but hey. At least it's do-able, to some extent. ...if the number's impossible? He'll make it up.]

Oh... 365 days? That's a year on your planet?

I was born in ND 2004.

That's right. 365.

The year of the Monkey. The monkey is your Chinese zodiac. [because he has no idea what 'ND' stands for and that means he's going to ignore it.]

Wow! That's like, half as long as our years.

The monkey? ...So what does that mean?

[noting this down tra la la]

It means that your core element is supposedly metal, and there are a handful of personality traits that belong to the monkey that yu supposedly share. For example: inventor, motivator, improviser, quick-witted, inquisitive, flexible, innovative, problem solver, sociable, artistic, polite, to name but a few.
