[If the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had a mind of its own, one might think that this particular copy was going out of the way to record its current holder when he least expected it. The screen clicked on by itself, sitting off on a countertop somewhere, revealing the inside of a weapons shop. Asch stood at another counter examining the nth sword that the shop's owner had presented him. Asch seemed to be entirely focused on the weapon, unsheathing it, inspecting the edge for scratches and other blemishes, taking a test swing to check its durability, holding it along the flat to determine if the blade and the hilt were balanced well...]

[The alien opposite him managed to look both expectant and bored at the same time. After a few more minutes Asch resheathes the sword and hands it back to him.]

The balance is good, but it's too flimsy. Do you have any more?

[The alien frowns, his antennae rubbing together in agitated thought.] What exactly were you looking for again? Specs?

A double-edged Bastard, tapered...

Err. And what is wrong with this particular sword, sir?

Nothing. Except this sword isn't heavy enough for my purposes nor is the grip long enough.

If you go much heavier you won't even be able to lift it!

If I don't find something heavier, the blade will shatter under pressure.

[Asch just shrugs.] Will you look for me?

[The alien makes a dismissive gesture at Asch. Finally he retreats into the back room to hunt down another one, leaving Asch alone momentarily.]
