Ah, where's the Guide-? I could've sworn I put it in my pocket earlier, and now I can't find it- oh, here it is!

[There's a bunch of scuffles as the Guide gets shuffled back and forth before coming to rest in his hand.] Oh, uh- I have a question for some of you! [You can hear Shin moving along from place to place, it seems like he's busy with ( Read more... )

The legend goes that many years ago, there was a prince and a princess who lived in space. The princess was named Orihime, and she was a weaver, who made beautiful clothes for her father, the king. She worked hard, and was very diligent, and it made her father very happy. But she was worried she would never meet anyone or fall in love, because of her work. So her father arranged her to meet the prince, Hikoboshi, and marry him. Hikoboshi was a cow herder, and he did his job well.

When the two finally met, they instantly fell in love, and were married soon after. They were happy, enjoying themselves and being together in everything they did. It was a wonderful time for them. But because of this, Orihime stopped weaving, and Hikoboshi let his cattle roam all over the fields and ignored them. The king grew angry at the two, insisting they had forgotten about their work, and separated them, using the galaxy as the barrier to keep them from being together. Orihime cried and begged her father to let her see Hikoboshi, and he was moved by her tears. He agreed to let them meet on the seventh day of the seventh month, once a year.

We celebrate their meeting again, because we know it's a time when they were happy. Usually, we pray the day is bright and sunny, and doesn't rain. If the rain comes, they cannot see each other for a whole year, so many of us write wishes to make sure the two lovers meet again.

Yes, and Orihime and Hikoboshi work hard in their weaving and work in order to meet. On the seventh day of the seventh month, the river of our galaxy thins, and a flock of magpies- which are a kind of bird in our country- come and create a bridge for them to cross and meet.

However, if it rains, the magpies cannot come, and the two must wait another year to see each other.

That is sad.

Sure, I'll help celebrate it with you. As long as you're okay with someone who's not from this earth place celebrating it.
