You're supposed to take small licks or bites, that way the cold wouldn't get to you so easily. Not to mention you get to savor the flavor a lot longer!

Well.. if really cold foods touches the roof of your mouth, it'll basically set off a chain-reaction from the roof of your mouth to your head that'll try to heat up your brain. It's called a "brain freeze".
If you take smaller bites though, it won't be too cold for your mouth. Go on, try again! [ Smiles reassuringly! ]
