I apologize for this. 1/? mozarteffect July 17 2010, 03:22:40 UTC
Sorry, I really should have done that before but I was afraid the app was getting too long. Aaand I had to rush a bit with this because it's been a busy week and I'll actually be on vacation next week, so, I don't entirely mind if it's declined or something. :|a

In a less incoherent manner this time I skipped a lot, believe it:

Upon instating him as the spirit detective of the human world, Koenma and Botan go about introducing him to his new abilities and items whilst on his first mission, which is retrieving three items from a gang of three demons that stole it from King Enma's (Koenma's father) vault. Koenma tells Botan that Yusuke has one week to retrieve the items before his father gets back or else there will be dire consequences, much to her horror. First one is the Orb of Baast, which sucks out souls, and is being held by a soul-eating demon called Gouki. Our Hero sees the three demons (Hiei, Gouki and Kurama) and follows them to a clearing where they spout some exposition about what items they respectively have, then they get into a disagreement as Kurama states that he wishes to defect from the group. Yusuke steps in to be the cocky protagonist and Hiei and Kurama leave Gouki to deal with him. Yusuke, in a fit of outrage upon realizing he was eating the souls of children, gets into it with him and…is soundly beaten.

Botan drives Gouki away by putting him under the impression that a group of hunters were coming into the clearing (by shouting a lot) and carries Yusuke back to his house. Upon waking up, Yusuke is sobbed on by his mother and is surprised to see Botan there in a human form. She explains to him that she wouldn't be a proper assistant without one and that she found him with a special spirit-energy tracking item that looks like a watch (and Atsuko mentions that Botan apparently carried him. Figure that one out). After Atsuko leaves, they discuss Gouki and his soul-eating habits. Yusuke asks her how long the souls can last in his stomach and she replies a day at the most, to which Yusuke reacts by jumping out of bed and deciding to go after Gouki again as the plot TV announces more children have been passing out for seemingly no reason. Before he leaves she gives him a ring that will amplify the power of his spirit gun, but tells him that there would be no chance even with the ring due to Gouki's nigh impenetrable skin.

Predictably, all seems lost for Yusuke again, even with Botan charging in and hitting Gouki with a log, until he gets a bright idea to shove a piece of wood in Gouki's mouth to pry it open and shoot right through.

Yes, really.
