You may choose to wear a costume to go with your mask, or not, as you wish.

Otherwise, I prefer at least semi-formal dress, but I will not insist, at least not for this occasion.

It would be unkind of me to charge for merely attending a special event like this. For New Year's Eve, there will be no cover charge.

I suspect what is familiar for you may be unfamiliar for most. However, I believe that it will benefit them to learn.
